    The Nationwide 'poetry' series.

    Truly awful.

Now bettered by the 'sisters' nonsense.

Who on earth pays the cheque for this dross?

Alliance Building Society had drab adverts.

They got better after the merger with the Leicester Building Society.

Building societies gave us some good adverts: 'Arthur Daley' advertising The Leeds' Liquid Gold account, paying a whopping 10% interest; The Woolwich 'are you with...'; and an easy Sunday morning with Halifax.
  • Does the fact that the majority on here don't like the Nationwide adverts but most remember them not mean that they are actually working?
By that I mean you are talking about Nationwide - rather than completely forgetting them?

We all like to think advertising doesn't affect us.

Nationwide and HSBC peddling their ant-Brexit, Marxist political agenda, usually with some champagne socialist celebrity virtue signalling.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I actively avoid companies who have annoying ads and I suspect I am not the only one. So remembering them does not actually mean the ad has been successful.

Nothing really wrong with the advert as such but the Lloyds bank horse and the tag line "The listening bank"...they didn't listen when we asked them not to shut the last bank in town

Adland exists to make lots of money out of business leaders who obviously think that if it looks pretentious or just plain daft, it attracts interest.

What it actually attracts, is either distaste, contempt or ribaldry.

Ads writers and creators do not live in the real world, but are all under the misapprehension that they do.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
