Where to find glass jars?

Hi jennyo,
Any jams I've made have never had mould on them (I wouldn't fancy it either) and I reused jars and lids. If you sterilse the jars and lids well, and pour the jam into them right up to the top then put the lids on immediately, you can actually hear the lids pop as an airtight vaccum is created.

How come when I freecycled a bed, TV, and tumble dryer I was inundated with emails for DAYS, but when I ask for a few jam jars... nothing but tumbleweed rolling by my inbox!
Hey ho. I shall keep trying. Don't really like the idea of buying super-cheap stuff to throw it away but that's just me!0 -
You could try calling a few charity shops, some people send their jars there, rather than recycle them, for people making jams etc. Worth a try.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I checked out the 6p curry sauce... in my tescos.... its in tins.. so not much use for you.
And I kinda agree with you about not throwing out stuff just for the jar....... so its not just you... its me too:o . But I dont think that makes us bad people;)0 -

Of course it doesn't make you bad people! Do try friends and family for jars...I did, and got so many that I hadn't the heart to turn them down and I had to freecycle some of them in the end.I went to make some chutney today....I know I have a stash of jars somewhere but we cleared out the garage a couple of weeks ago and I've put them somewhere safe! If only I could remember where! :wall:
