He has voted in the main along the same lines as his religious book implies.

In regards to whats best for the greater good of the planet, that of course come under what someone like him would considers freewill. Where in the bible does it instruct anyone on border control, and individual aspects of tenancy and handing out welfare, that's ridiculous.

In regards to whats best overall for the country and the planet, if it was that clear cut, we wouldn't need a government or democracy.
I'm sorry if his version of the bible doesn't fit your version of the bible and how things should be run in your opinion, and what you consider "love for your fellow man" but it obviously fits his.
Ironically as an atheist I find the book absurd and hypocritical, and can be read almost anyway to square many circles.

Personally I don't see a solution to people on welfare as just bunging more money at them, a huge amount of their poverty comes from the individual making bad choices, and money should only be channeled to legitimate circumstances, I don't see how funding them to carry on in that way is productive its a financial money pit of little productivity, surely the end game is to end the cycle, not teach them to teach their children the same patterns. I would imagine JRM would agree with me, in this instance as an example of the greater good.

Do you have any evidence for this? Or is this guff just the product of thoughtless, uninterrogated prejudice?

Maybe one day you'll lose your job or something, then some sanctimonious so and so at the benefit office can lecture you on how it would be unproductive to give you money so you can eat that week as it's just teaching you to rely on others.

Do you think children should suffer because of the 'bad choices' of their parents? What do you consider to be 'legitimate circumstances'? and how would you 'end the cycle'.?

Yep people running scared bigtime of JRM.

I'm wondering where were all the posts from these same people regarding Tim Farron. Strangely I don't remember any outrage from them then.

The hatred of JRM is because he's a Tory, pure & simple. The outraged Guardianistas had nothing to say when it was a Liberal espousing similar views.

    Massive hypocrisy but what's new.

  • If he's a Christian, he's a very hypocritical one that just picks the most convenient parts for what he wants to do anyway.

    Shock horror

Farron had about as much chance of being Prime minister as I do.

Whereas JRM is the epitomy of the "out-of-touch Tory".

There is a real possibility of this man becoming Prime Minister, he is completely opposed to abortion even in cases of incestuous rape. He believes abortion even in this scenario is morally abhorrent.

Considering how "Christian" he is, why doesn't he listen to Jesus Christ when he stated "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God"

He's a hypocrite hiding behind religion, this is so clearly demonstrated when confronted with his bigoted and xenophobic ideology.

When I think of JRM I instantly think of this:

Ah so it's not his views that make you dislike JRM, it's that he might become PM?

As I said, the real reason you & others dislike him is he's a Tory, plain & simple. If he was a Labour MP you wouldn't be saying diddly-squat.

No, it's because he is a hypocrite using religion to support his despicable prejudices.

Until I see some evidence that he has any significant support amongst Conservative MPs I won't be holding my breath waiting for his ascension to the leadership
