I used to be a project worker with people with LD, we would have all expenses paid for (it was over 20 years ago). We have just employed someone to have mum 2 days a week to take some pressure off us (well mum is paying but she does not realised she is, mum does not need anyone with additional skills at the moment just tons of patience). We (siblings) did have some words as I feel strongly that people should be paid a true living wage rather then minimum wages we ended up agreeing £10 an hour, expenses and mileage (which adds up to still less than going through an agency). It is rather sad reflection of pay and conditions in modern society when we have been inundated with applicants.
That's a fantastic rate of pay. Plus folk will more than likely stay around (I've been at the current area for a year and am astonished the amount of staff changes) I get 10p more but I've been there years. Should also get extra annual leave but had a few month off last year so might have broke the 'service years' up. One thing that used to make me laugh about mileage is ordinary staff used to get less than team leaders. Most don't need to drive now so not sure how it works. There's been a lot of changes though in care sadly, mostly not for the better. So many people just get the hours to barely cope and that's it.
Currently praying that the judges decide on the 3rd October that councils need to pay the back pay between what we've been getting in sleep ins and ordinary hours as if it happens I'll be getting a tidy back pay (student loan, ni and tax will take 41% first but would still be a nice amount)

I don't work for mencap but I think it will apply to us all. Will pay for the safari spends if it happens:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:

Dieting wise this week has been a bit mixed. I've had 2 days of making butter sugar stuff as I fancied something sweet so not to hopeful for tomorrow. Gym sent me a letter that there putting it up £6 per month as I was on a discounted rate I found years ago through this site but it never changed. I never use it enough to pay nearly £40 a month so going to pay upfront next week then I pay for 9 and get 12 and I'll see how often I actually use it as I do need to or I park my backside and watch sports rather than doing it.
Sat watching the cricket ATM. Today's plan:
Breakfast: had an orange. Going to have weetabix and an apple (hexa and b)
Dinner: got some pork, going to have Yorkshire puddings, a few syns for the gravy (nan used to make it onion sauce mix with oxo, love it this way and it's a proper treat). Going to have some mixed veg too.
Tea: I'll have minced beef, onions, sweet pepper, tomato Passata stuff
Hope everyone's having a good weekend. Going to take advantage of the nice day to get the washing done as they might be few and far between now:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:

What did you decide about a Sunday WI whiplashy? Personally I wouldn't recommend as perfectly natural fluctuations across a week (or even a day) can be depressing. I've never bought HiFis. Mainly because it's always possible to buy a cheaper alternative like Alpen Lights on the £ shop or the Aldi Benefit bars but also mainly use my HEB for bread. If your mum's not keen you could donate them to the SoW raffle at your group.
I think social care provision needs to be amalgamated with the NHS as, it's currently at the mercy of government cuts to Local Authority spending so it gets hidden. Most people I know pay more (at least £10 per hour) to their cleaners.
It's been obvious for ages that your school can't meet 'his nibs' needs tie. He's kept there just because you manage him at the expense of your own health. As long as you keep doing that, the school leadership seems willing to let you. You shouldn't be with him day on day, year on year. It's not fair on you. They're taking advantage because you can manage him.
I wouldn't see exclusion as a failure but rather a way of gathering evidence that he needs to be elsewhere. Maybe having him at home will also push his family to seek other provision. If I were you I'd be absolutely open with your managers about how difficult things are and record all incidents in writing and hand them over (keeping a copy of course). Be a pest and it'll force them to deal with the situation. As for the course, why not ask if you can finish 15 minutes or more early to get there on time? Although they'll maybe start with tea and biscuits so being late could be a good idea.:D
I did follow the gin plan last night. So far I've used 30 syns (not all on gin!) since Thursday which means I'm 15 in credit with the least synful days of the week to come. I just need to keep some for a meal on Tuesday night although I'm already thinking of wise choices. That being said, I don't feel thinner.:( I seem to have had a bloated tummy ever since I went out of target on holiday back in July. But I'm plodding on!!:D
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Ribena, strawberries, 2 fried eggs, HEB toast, mushrooms, tomatoes, HEA milk for drinks
L: JP with veggie chilli, beetroot and cottage cheeseHB steaks (with onions and mushrooms), SW roasties, roast BNS, cauli, broccoli, cabbage, carrots

If they go far enough back.... I would get a rather nice payout with this!:D

Oh I record everything (have to!) got RSI on Thursday from writing everything up. I can't believe senco is only now saying we need to do an EHCP for him to prove we're not meeting his needs
Seems to be the thing at this school that the child you start with, you follow through the school. Just hoping for a better week! Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

There must be an EHCP plan in place, it is the only way that they can obtain the level of funding for 1-2-1. The SENCO is right, you need the multi-agency EHCP meeting to ensure that all options of support are considered, and only then if the child's needs cannot be met should there be a planned transition. Obviously if his place at school breaks down due to crisis, professionals have to be reactive and attempt to manage this, but it is much better to have planned intervention/planned move.100 -

That's what I keep thinking, I'm sure they will have a clause in somewhere. But the judge rule got the person £12k I think it was so it must get happen. It's been going on a few years mind. Wouldn't surprise me if it carries on going on. Will be a welcome bonus if they do pay out. They've upped our sleep in rate so I knew something was happening somewhere, still not minimum wage for us though.
I agree about it going back to the NHS. One of my service users is funded half and half and I think there's a lot of discussions who should pay for it nowadays.:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:

If they pay minimum wage, they will have the staff awake and cleaning....:o:o
I do agree about the change to NHS, it has been discussed for at least 18 years but never happened. In comparison the NHS staff tend to get a better deal in relation to pay/conditions, so it would be significantly more expensive - probably this is why it has not happened!100
