Had a very sad phone call this morning to tell us OH's sister (his only sibling) died suddenly last night. She seemed to be the fittest of all of us. We can't believe it, it's shaken us to the core.
We haven't seen them for about 8 years (since the last family funeral actually) but have kept in touch by other means. The distance has always been the stumbling block as she lived on the farthest tip of Pembrokeshire, about as far from us as it's possible to get (in England&Wales anyway).
OH is saying to me that he can't face the journey to the funeral (he hasn't been particularly well recently). I'm planning to research possibilities of coach/train then neither of us needs to get anxious about driving there.
so so sorry carbootcrazy. my condolences to OH and you.
hope you manage to find a very cost effective way to get there painlessly. xxxx0 -
Sorry to hear your news CBC
Like Aesop said, I hope you manage to find a cheap way across country. Alternatively if it's a midweek funeral then you might be able to get a good deal on an overnight room in a B&B nearby, after the wet summer we've had you might find places are offering significant discounts to help them balance the books, staying overnight either before or after the funeral could help with the long-distance-driving anxiety.

A couple more sales netting me £13.03. Made £86.37 from eBay sales this month - pretty close to my aim of £100 and still a few days to go! Will definitely make my total of £450 this month as I bought a new phone since my other one was on its last legs and will be selling that tomorrow (will add the amount when confirmed).
As I have been pretty much housebound for over a week now, I have managed to find a couple more things to get rid of. I wear contact lenses and pay a small DD every month for these - normally it is for sport as it is impractical to wear glasses for the sport I do, but as I am still waiting to wean the little one, I haven't worn them much and have got lots of the fluid which I will never use. I was going to bin it (reluctantly as seemed a bit of a waste) and then as a thought I looked on the Bay and loan behold sealed fluid seems to sell. I put 6 bottles on (2 lots of 3) and one lot sold in 30 mins! Not sure whether that will make it on the list of the unusual items list for this month! I also managed to sell some shoes with a heel that was so damaged I am not sure it is repairable and I was clear about that on the listing and took lots of photos.
I also put some of the little ones clothes in the attic that he has grown out of (in case we need them in the future..) and at the same time found a box of things I had forgotten about and don't want anymore. So got that one down and slowly listing them to see if they sell.
Will continue with my selling efforts next month to try and clear out the room before the end of the year. Am getting pretty close now although I keep finding the odd extra thing to add to the pile! Got lots of house renovation plans for next year for things I want to do (garden and built in shelving unit), but need to save first! Hoping to be able to do it completely through this process so wish me luck!
Not been doing much in terms of surveys etc (except my one panel that I am on) as am still recovering and trying really hard to relax and not push myself too much!2025 decluttering: 5,000 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟2025 use up challenge: 362🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Mini freezer challenge +4/-20Big kitchen declutter challenge 120/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 5000 -
CBC sorry to hear your news
Things like that sometimes put things in perspective re: the important things in life. Hope your hubby is ok and you get there relatively stress free.

To be fair, as I have been ill, I have been able to direct other people to packaging, post offices and what needs to go where as I make the most of the extra help. Means I get stuff done in a relaxed fashion. Win, win! DH off to the tip now with some stuff not saleable..

Aesop. One of my boys has a very short attention span and although it has been a long time since we did any homework (he's 22 now) I can remember how hard it was to keep him focused so I feel your pain!
Not much advice I can give except try to do homework as soon as you get home if possible, not always easy I know. I found mine concentrated better in a separate room from the other two but that obviously isn't relevant to you but still away from distractions, including you and hubby if he doesn't need help. You could try a timer for 15 minutes work then 5 minutes break where he gets up and moves around. None of this is scientific by the way! The timer thing can work really well but my son is a bit obsessed with time so I had to keep the timer away from where he was sitting or he would get distracted by that!
If anything else comes back to me I will let you know but as I say it has been a long time.
Good luck xx£10 a day April - £4/£3002014 £110.92 2015 £3732.30 2016 £1633.66 2017 £2991.70 2018 £3255.40
