Sorry for you and your husband's loss, CBC, I second the idea of trying to stay over either the night before or night afterwards, even if it's in a trusty Travelodge and outside of the town.
Nothing much on the moneymaking front here, I'm up to over £15 now on Job Spotter, (thank you VintageHistorian and Aesop! But not ready to cash it in yet, I'm aiming for enough for either a bulk purchase of loo rolls (livin' the dream!) or a new hairdryer. I do have an enquiry about postage on a collection only eBay item that ended with no bids so I will list tonight (for the £1 fee cap) and get it weighed and add the correct postage tomorrow.
I'm going to be approaching the challenge a bit differently next month. I have stopped freelancing in my usual job and have taken a part time job at a local supermarket to provide me with a small income while I set up a new business venture. My income from the SM will cover the mortgage and all my direct debits but if we want to eat I need to make a success of the new business (or other endeavours!) so I'm going to add everything from my second job to my total here if that's okay.
It's not quite as dire as it sounds as I am still owed two weeks money from freelancing which will come this Thursday and then another 4 days on 28th of next month so we have food for the next two months at least and hopefully after that money should start to trickle in!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Had a very sad phone call this morning to tell us OH's sister (his only sibling) died suddenly last night. She seemed to be the fittest of all of us. We can't believe it, it's shaken us to the core.
We haven't seen them for about 8 years (since the last family funeral actually) but have kept in touch by other means. The distance has always been the stumbling block as she lived on the farthest tip of Pembrokeshire, about as far from us as it's possible to get (in England&Wales anyway).
OH is saying to me that he can't face the journey to the funeral (he hasn't been particularly well recently). I'm planning to research possibilities of coach/train then neither of us needs to get anxious about driving there.
Oh CBC, I am so sorry to hear that. I do hope you can find a way to get there which is easier than you expect.Make up to £10 a day challenge 2017: August: £195; September £313.94; October £431.160 -
Heartfelt thanks to all the kind and considerate people who have posted their good wishes and sympathy:A. It is very much appreciated.
I've spent a long time today checking on coach and train travel but by coach it would take over 16 hours (including a 2 hour stopover for connections in Birmingham). Definitely not a possibility as OH would go crazy cooped up on a coach for that long:eek:. The trains are a bit quicker (about 10 hours with changes) and at least OH could get up and walk about a bit if it all gets a bit much. We live about 18 miles from our nearest station so there's also the problem of getting to the train and home again. I doubt OH would want to leave his car in the street over one or two nights unless we left it in a nearby 'nice' residential area and walk in. The town car parks close overnight.
Also been checking Martin's advice on 'split ticketing' and there are lots of savings to be made but until we know when the funeral is and the time of day I can't do anything definite. There has to be a post mortem as she died suddenly and hadn't been ill or even seen a GP in years. Just goes to show that nothing in life can be taken for granted. She was exactly the same age as me and was loving her husband being newly retired as they'd been able to start doing all the things that they planned to do when they had the opportunity. Life can be so unfair:(0 -
Can't get my head round trying to list and sell things at the moment, or do surveys. Just wanted to say that I registered with Sainsbury's on Friday night and they must have forgotten me;) as I was able to register as a new customer:j. I placed an order to get the new customer offer of £18 off a £60 spend. I didn't mind how late the delivery came so got one for £3 late on Saturday evening. All done and dusted and everything came with no substitutions:j
Will just add £15 that I saved to my total as I never get groceries delivered so delivery costs are not something I normally pay for IYKWIM.0 -
Thoughts with you CBC on your sudden family loss. I think anything like that happening really makes you stop and look at your life in a different way. Must have been such a shock as no illness or anything. Very sad!! Hope you find a solution to your travel problems.
QueenJess........good to see you around and a bit more optimistic.
Its so difficult to slow down if you are used to doing so much but sometimes you just have to!
FatvonD.....good luck with new job. :T
Shariann.......nice to hear you have had a nice weekend away! Thats what we all need now and then. Its my birthday next Thursday and we are going to York and staying over. We are booked onto a ghost bus tour while we are there so that should be interesting.
Got asked to work extra today as they were short staffed. (That makes a change! ) I said I would go in after my step class. Think I was a little optimistic lol.......face was beetroot red after my exertions but managed to cover it with a bit of slap and earnt an extra £40 ish + £5 tips. Was actually a really nice shift with some lovely customers and some great staff.
