    Hi Bartgirl,

I'm sure I've seen Aldi or Lidl sell a carpet cleaner for around £40 when they bring in different products to sell weekly so keep your eyes out for that?

something thats occured to me - is your OH around when your provident person calls? if so, i would focus on your other debts before that one. so long as the provvy agent is still calling, you can convince OH that you're in debt, skint, cant lend him money ;) if he realises that you've cleared that debt he might either think you've got money to spare (which you will... just not for him!) or he even encourage to renew the loan with them
    Genius - I like it :)

I also have a table-top dishwasher that i need connected by a plumber. A few in the Yello Pages have quoted £80-90 to do this..any ideas on how it could be done cheaper ?

bartgirl - do you really need the dishwasher? could you sell it instead for some much needed funds?

Thanks for the welcome pavlovs_dog :) The first post I wanted to reply to was a Florida one on the travel board - couldn't think of a name to register with and spotted the Lion King video on the shelf next to me lol

    Still I Rise

You may write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you ?
Why are you beset with gloom ?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
    Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
    With the certainty of tides,
    Just like hopes springing high,
    Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken ?
    Bowed head and lowered eyes?
    Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
    Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you ?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you ?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs ?

Out of the huts of history's shame
    I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
    I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.

Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
    I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
    I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave
I am the dream and the hope of the slave
    I rise
    I rise
    I rise

not sure if ive asked before - are the above amounts the minimium you must repay, or are your overpaying on some/all of the them? either way, vanquis needs to take priority because of the horrible interest rate.

I'm over paying on Barclaycard and Vanquis. Council Tax I'm not over paying - neither Provident. Its just this month that I'll have the extra £100.

OH is unaware of the Provident debt. The Provvi guy has strict instructions not to approach my house without prior permission. I think he's dealt with women with strange OHs in the past cos when he calls to let me know he's coming, he always asks if he can come in the building or should he wait outside for me !! also OH would hit the roof if he knew i had a Provi loan. But i was so so strapped for cash at the time.. i always promised myself I'd never go down that route - but i did / have..
