Hi Bartgirl, well done on making the appointment with Womens Aid, aside from the practical support you may find the emotional support benefits you greatly too.

Also a counselling vacancy can take months or longer depending on who your referral is with. Ask your WA support worker if they have access to fast track referrals for counselling. Our refuge has an arrangement with RELATE so that women accessing our services are considered high priority. Usually they manage to get an appointment within a month.

Also ask if they run a Freedom Programme, I can highly recommend it for any women who are or have been targets of any form of domestic abuse.

You are so regaining your power now. Well flippin done!!

I'm so glad you've got an appointment with Women's Aid, and counselling coming up too, I hope those are both really helpful.

I will read your thread with avid interest now and will be cheering on to ditch the OH and build a great new life for you and your son.

    Thanks Seaxwyn

My appointment isn't actually with WomensAid! Its with an organisation that work with them - i dont even remember the name! I've sorted childcare for the morning and i look forward to seeing what they can tell me.

I'm also having a one-off trip to a counsellor on Thurs afternoon. A few friends have been to him and recommended him for a sit-down session on advice etc. Its free (apart from congestion charge!) so why not..

I'm really really scared and frightened that i may one day soon be leaving OH but I dont see any alternative..

    Thanks for the support..

    Thanks for your advice Pavlov.
Was hoping you'd share your 2 cents with me as last time u gave me really helpful advice on what to do with my extra ££.
I need to sit down and do some maths re:my current debt situation - i'm planning on doing so towards the end of the month;cos ive upped my hours at work now, so i'm going to have to decide how this extra £ gets allocated -in terms of what gets thrown at debt and what's for savings.

    aww nice to be appreciated!

i've subscribed to your thread so pop in as often as i can to keep up to date. i should be around more at the end of the month (my coursework should all be done by then :j ), but once you've got your new figures together, give me a shout and we'll see what we can do. feel free to PM me if i dont appear, im in my own little world half the time  :D

i always enjoy looking at SOAs because its nice to help, but working on yours is exceptionally good because ive never known a DFW-er so ready to do whatever it takes to help themselves. some of the others could learn a lot from you - i think you're inspirational :A

    Thanks Pavlov

What you've said is so kind its brought tears to my eyes..

I do try as much as I can - and this month I'm spending recklessly unfortunately..like today i spent £20 where i didnt need to - i got stuff for DSs bedroom - matching duvet cover and lampshade. They were bargains from the Poundstretcher though - £4.99 duvet and £3 for the Lshade. I feel awful cos he has no curtains - cos there's no pole up..I wont tell you what I've got in its place I'm too embarassed..so i just want to get his room nice for him bit by bit..the rest went on junk food for us all really and bits from the market too..

Pavlov, I'll defintely PM you closer to month-end once I've done my SOA stuff properly..tomorrow I'm at work (Sun is extra ££ ;) ) a friend's agreed to have DS cos OH kicked up such a stink last time i worked a weekend and he had to step in to have DS for me that i didnt dare mention this Sun too - as my last Sun was 2 weekends ago I know he'll hit the roof..

    Goodnight all..

Bartgirl, don't beat yourself up over £20 quid. You are doing SO well. Look at it in context - i.e £20 compared to everything you have saved, everything you have E-bayed and every penny of debt you have paid off. It's is a tiny, tiny blip and you are still heading in the right direction.
:D Make a list of important things to do today. At the top, put 'eat chocolate'. Now, you'll get at least one thing done today. :D

think of it as an investment. you can take it with you when you leave, cant you ;) your lad will need a nice room in your new home too.
