I always state very clearly on the bottom of my listings that payments should be made within 3 days.It gives them a chance to pay and means I'm not hanging about for days waiting for money. Also means less trips to post office.
good luck telling oh your news!

About my extra hours. I fibbed and said it would only be until the summer. I also failed to mention that i'd be trying my damndest to make sure it'll be weekend work..need the cash!
He actually didnt respond - either in a + or - manner. He did have that look on his face that says 'i dont approve'..but he didnt comment.
So this morning i put it in writing to my manager - although i mentioned it verbally already..

Yesterday I spent money in Lidl - bits so i could make meals until Fri. I also made alot of chicken stew last night so that OH could also take some to work for lunch. I had bought some tuna to make sarnies for myself - and have now discovered this a.m.that he's eaten the last of the bread  1 slice left only - so that goes to DS for his brekkie toast. BUt he's also finished all the milk too..so no cerea; milk; toast for meeeeee!

He interestingly enough also called me yesterday and left a message begging me for a tenner - said that he's completely skint and needs money for petrol to get to work etc. My instinct was to tell him that all i could spare was a tenner; and take it out of my savings - cos since the Lidl shop i'm now overdrawn :( - but then i stopped and really thought about it, and decided i'd tell him that i'd spent my last tenner - which is true! He rarely has ever made sacrifices for me - so why should i continue doing so ????
However; when he came home last night he didnt mention the £10 so i didnt bring it up either.

So although i'd planned a NSD today i now have to use the last of the pennies in my purse to get in bread and milk ..

On a positive note, i have sold 1 book out of 6 on amazon. My first amazon sale!! And 5 people out of 6 have paid my ebay sales. Yesterday i transferred about £20 of that into my savings so shall do the rest tonight. Hopefully by month end it'll mean that i've got just over £300 in savings for Feb. My first month ever with savings!!!! I'm so so excited :T

I was looking back at some of your early diary entries-back then you'd have given him the tenner -and skipped buying bread !

i know its not the same as fresh, but have you considered getting in a loaf of bread to keep in the freezer, and a pint of UHT milk for emergencies? seeing as he has no qualms about leaving you and your son with little/no breakfast, it would at least mean you got something.

uht is not as nice as normal milk granted, but perfectly serviceable in drinks or over cereal, especially if it is the difference between eating or not eating. if costs pennies and lasts 'forever' too, which is an added bonus :j

  • Thanks everyone for your advice re:milk. I shall consider that when i do the monthly shop.

Well - I told work today in writing that I'd be doing my extra hours..i look forward to the extra $$ ;)

And although i'm now overdrawn by about £7 - and the aim was for me to have something in my account at month end, i shan't penalise myself - as this is the first time in my entire working life (almost 10 years) that i've ever had access to money that is mine, not a cc or overdraft or loan. Good clean sterling pounds in my savings account. Unheard of for me.

And i owe it to you all.

Bring on Fri payday - shall tackle more loans :j yippee..

This morning I've transferred a fiver into my current account, as i'm going to Manchester by train for the weekend, and its a 2 hr journey from London. I'm really worried about how DS'll behave and have decided i'll nip into the £ shop this a.m.to buy a few little treats that i'll produce on the train - colouring books etc. I've decided i'll spend £1 on milk and the rest on DS's 'trip bag!' and in true DFW-style, i'll walk to shops, and not drive.

Yesterday I had a weird moment at work when i was naughty and went to buy a sandwich for £1.50 and i knew i only had £2 available in my account. A colleague asked me to grab one for her too while i was there, and she didnt offer me the cash  i sort of hung around waiting for it, and neither did she say 'i'll give it to you on your return' so said OK..thinking I'd withdraw a tenner from the savings and sort it out later..

Luckily when we got to the shop, i was with another colleague and she said 'oh i'll get it if you prefer cos i know you dont like touching pork'..so that colleague paid for the other lady's sarnie..phew! I had a narrow escape!!

I've made a list of all the stuff i'll be Ebaying this month. Its a mixture of books, DS's old cot, buggy, etc, and some jewellery bits. The first lot'll go on this evening.

I've got my interview this afternoon for my 2nd job  wish me luck!
