I’ve got a northern nights set too, not brushed cotton though, but a high thread count. I like sheets cool and crisp.
Yes gotta love a blue cross sale :-)

The brushed cotton is just to stop Dh from whinging

I like cool and crisp. I also like the heating off, the window open and a 4 tog duvet. He feels cold so the brushed cotton is the compromise during the coldest nights

They are very cosy and because they are cotton they tend to keep me pretty cool and dry ( menopause )

6 full sets (sheet, bath, hand & 2 flannels) for 2 of us & 3 spare rooms...most are 10+ years old (one set are 17 years old from pre-DH days). We have one set in use & one in the wash for each bedroom, we can have up to 10 different people staying over a weekend - comes from living in a Lancashire coastal resort!

There's 4 of us here, and we have 1 1kea drawer full of bath towels (about 17, including 4 square baby towels and a monkey wrap-around baby towel :)), about 25 wash mittens and 9 hand towels.

Dds take the hand towels to school when they go swimming, to stand on (required by the school). We use 1 towel each, and dry them in between dryings on a small towel rack that's hanging from the bathroom radiator. We change them as soon as they start to smell, or start to look dirty. I change them anyway when dds have their weekly bath (they shower or wash the rest of the week).

Some of the towels are getting a bit old, and I put those on top of the pile, to use them as much as possible, and wear them out the fastest. The nice ones I keep at the bottom of the pile, for guests. (Ms Kondo would shiver at the thought of a pile.....)

Some of my towels I remember being given when I moved out of my parents' house and into student accommodation, 25 years ago!! Towels last a lot longer than you think!

I've noticed my blue bath towels are getting a little the worse for wear - they were a wedding present in 2003.

I'm wondering about the possibility of cutting them down and using the good parts to make hand towels, which could then replace the old hand towels that are getting very thin in patches.

We still have some which were wedding presents in 1984 but they are getting a bit tired. The really old ones from before then have been turned into floor cloths or wipy things. Well some have, a few are still going strong. There are some much newer ones but even those are getting ratty.

I use a big towel 3 times before washing it, hand towels are changed every few days, mostly about 3 times each week.

What I find odd is that some really expensive towels seem not to have lasted well while some cheap ones are fine.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Nice one :)

    Now to make you spit

On the day I bought, it was Blue cross with an extra % off, then on top of that, if you opened a scorecard and bought on that - another 10% off

If you do like the bedding, keep an eye of HoF, they are going to be closing stores so there should be some good bargains coming up. Ive a feeling our will go as over here is the first to get hit with closures, if so I shall be straight down there stocking up for life :)

Too many! We inherited a heap of barely-used towels from relatives which I!!!8217;m loathe to throw away until they!!!8217;re worn out as towels to me are an annoying expense so we!!!8217;re working our way through them. Ideally I!!!8217;d have:
    - 2 bath sheets each for home
    - 2 bath sheets & hand towels each for gym/commuting to work
    - 2 hand towels
    - 2 spare bath sheets & handtowels for occasional guests

All this washing towels after every use isn't very good for the pocket or the environment!
