Euro zone business growth maintains solid pace in August
Euro zone manufacturing businesses clocked their best month of growth in six-and-a-half years in August, offsetting the weakest services growth in seven months and keeping overall activity on steady path, a survey of private companies showed on Wednesday.

Great news and even better news as sterling hits a one year low against the Euro. Let the good times roll - turnip broth and holidays in Skeggy.

The good news from the Eurozone keeps pouring in...

Eurozone economy grew at double the rate of the UK in second quarter of 2017.

It may be the case that Chinese investment helps but, of course, that is entirely independent of whether the UK is in the EU or not.

That's why it's worth understanding and following the far bigger picture. For the past 50 years the Chinese have been playing the long game.

As the last thread has been trashed, could we perhaps start again?

The big issue being reported in the papers this morning is the number of Europeans, particularly those from Central and Eastern Europe, leaving the country.

Here's a link to the FT's story on it, but it is being widely covered if paywalled and an alternative is needed:

What is the sustainable net figure EU net was 7000, the way the Labour politician was talking last night you would have though it was a negative figure.

this drop is the lowest since 2014, so in 2014 we were seeing similar volumes. Could it not be the case that a recent rush to get to the UK has now subsided, and we are now back to 'normal' levels of EU immigration?

edit : just looked this up

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/aug/24/net-migration-to-uk-drops-to-lowest-level-for-three-years

We are still higher than the migration levels 2012-2015 on the whole.

A welcome drop in cheap foreign labour IMO. The MSM anti-Brexit bias was clearly evident in the way this was reported yesterday I thought. Here's hoping this relieves the downward pressure on wages and eases the crisis in some of our vital public services.

    My actual brexit related contribution:

Brexit campaign 'hindered integration because debate on immigration was so toxic'

This must surely be acknowledged as a bad thing by both sides of the debate? Regardless of your opinion of immigrants, most aren't going to up and leave (not that that's desirable), so integration has to be a priority.

Which MSM are you talking about? Other than Guardian/Indie/FT, the majority of the press are pro-brexit, majority both in terms of publications and certainly by readership. The BBC are trying so hard to be 'unbiased' that they promoted that moron Minfords work, someone being sla*ged off by his peers for his poor standard of work!

UK PRESS COVERAGE OF EU REFERENDUM CAMPAIGN DOMINATED BY PRO-LEAVE - granted, about the referendum, but I've not seen any shift of opinion by media organisations, they're as they were before the ref.

There's also the slight problem that the drop in migrant numbers doesn't tell you if it's strawberry pickers or nurses and doctors. I think it's more likely higher educated people are making the move, they've got far more flexibility to go somewhere they feel more welcome.
