Germany is losing it's identity. Much of the old East hasn't benefited since the Wall came down either.0 -
Merkel back in charge of Germany according to exit polls, the Franco German motor back in charge of the EU.
Exactly the opposite of what the Brexits predicted. Where is the domino effect?
England is isolated and alone, which as the Italians said after May's speech, was heroic in 1939 surrounded by enemies, but utterly absurd in 2017 surrounded by friends.0 -

The UK isolating itself from burgeoning mainland European fascism is looking like a nice place to be. The British people's instincts are as sound today as they were in the 1930's. The EU's institutional inability to reflect the hopes and fears of Europeans is creating a new wave of 1930's style populism. You'll get it one day.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

So the incumbent scrapes back in with a vastly reduced vote share and needs to rely on coalition partners.
In some countries that would be seen as a humiliation.0 -

After less than a year and only 2 years after the last election it is a humiliation.
After 12 years it's far less so. Countries will want a change of government and will change their mind on policies from time to time. Merkel had to rely on a coalition agreement the last time too.
Many of the young in Germany (meaning 20s) that I know have openly supported Merkel and her policies. Many of the young in the UK haven't supported May and her policies.💙💛 💔0 -

Yes, but they're not going to be in government, they're not going to be in opposition and this is likely the highest vote share they'll ever get.
Don't get too excited💙💛 💔0
