Time to end EU's travelling circusimagine the money involved in shifting the more than 750 EU parliamentarians from their Brussels base to hear what Jean-Claude Juncker had to say.We are not talking small change.
And here's the thing - those costs (travel, hotels, meals out, shifting the contents of lawmaker's offices) - are replicated not yearly, but monthly.

Try looking on the official website. You're again trusting the media and taking their opinion as gospel. Everything is on the website: http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/exiting-the-european-union-committee/
The members of this committee (listed for you inside) "were formally appointed on Monday 11 September 2017." (following the GE, naturally, the first being arranged in 2016.) The role of this committee? "The Exiting the European Union Committee is appointed by the House of Commons to examine the expenditure, administration and policy of the Department for Exiting the European Union and matters falling within the responsibilities of associated public bodies."
Now I realise your preponderance for being a little "easy" with the truth but explain if you would how a committee doing what it was set up to do is somehow newsworthy now rather than when the committee was set up over a year ago - unless it is just to promote an anti-Brexit agenda?
That's not the first time you've called me a liar. It's very clear that, as I said, a select committee had launched an inquiry (yesterday) into the progress of the brexit negotiations.
It's newsworthy because it's news that happened yesterday. If you had looked more carefully at your own links, as you advised me to do, you wouldn't have needed to be corrected. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. In fact you might want to try telling Hungarians that. Or Poles. Even Israel.
If I decide to go further, it could end up being quite a long list.
It's not an Empire....It's a project with the purpose of bringing the economies of the member states into line with each other...with the aim of ending the petty bickering of nationalist self interest. This does cause problems granted as you allude to above with Hungary's concerns about the integrity of their borders......but these concerns are pifling compared to the arms races and trade wars of the past. My view is we should have stayed in the EU and fought for a certain type of EU...by opting out and sidelining ourselves we have reduced our influence!0 -
It's nonsense to describe the EU as an empire. It's a union of democratic states who have decided to pool their sovereignty. As a result of the EU we have had a welcome period of peace between the major nations and we have democratised the problematic states of Eastern Europe and brought them within the orbit of the west. I'm tired of national boundaries, they are petty and obstructive. I want to be able to go where I want when I want. In that sense I am a globalist. Of course it can't happen until wealth is equalised, security allows etc however but the EU was moving in the right direction.
My god. From arch blairite to raving communist in the space of six months.0 -

Okay:
Tim Martin, founder of Wetherspoons. 1000 outlets and growing; turnover £1.7 billion & just announced quite a profit rise. Personal fortune said to be in excess of £280 million.
Would you care to explain your credentials by comparison to explain why we should instead pay any heed to your opinions?
Perhaps that might explain your disdain for such successful British entrepreneurs?

Since when does the value of an opinion grow in line with personal wealth, turnover and staff count?
But ok, I'll play.
So I assume you consider Richard Branson's opinion more valuable than Tim Martin's? :whistle:0 -

Like you have changed what you say, from your original "non-progress" which was obviously wrong.
The committee was formed 2015. Just had new members appointed following the GE. This is the first of what will be quite a few of the duties as decided back in 2015.
End of.
You might try to make more of it than that in attempt to further your "Brexit is bad" stance but in reality it is just non-news.
Don't worry too much though, it is widely accepted that many remainers have difficulty accepting reality.

Either are preferable to a faceless keyboard warrior.
Especially one with an obvious agenda.0 -
I don't have an agenda.
I do have an opinion though and I'll continue to express it no matter how much you keep strutting around the forums in a (totally misguided) effort to drown out opposing views.0
