But surely we're too small and without influence to be able to manage such a feat? Clegg told me so.0 -
Graham Stringer is the latest Labour MP to speak out against the three line whip to oppose the Brexit bill:“The people of the United Kingdom voted to leave the EU last year. I think it would be an absolute breach of trust between Members of Parliament and the electorate if one was to try and block the Brexit bill. Nobody during the debates when the referendum was agreed, the debates when Article 50 was passed by a significant majority, nobody stood up and said, “well we’re asking your opinion, we want you to vote on this, and we’ll consider what the decision is and we will vote the other way”. I think it is a mistake and I would certainly say that a mistake is being made.”0

Good news. I hope they show serious commitment.
If they are short of funds, they could always dump HS2 ...0 -
Yes I know Merkel is likely to get re-elected.
Well quite likely.
Yet as she campaigns she gets booed again, this time in Torgau:When the German Chancellor was confronted by whistles and catcalls during an election event in east German town of Torgau on Wednesday, she attempted to turn the boos to her advantage. At a speech in Heidelberg in southern Germany on Tuesday demonstrators threw tomatoes at the Chancellor, with one hitting her on the hip. Meanwhile protesters have disrupted entire speeches in the eastern states of Brandenburg and Saxony, where the far-right are particularly strong, with calls of “traitor”, “liar” and “fraud.”0 -
Very true.
I don't know the boss of Sony, I just go by product outcomes.
Its in no way similar. The Sony Boss is not an elected politician mean't to represent all of us. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/sep/07/theresa-may-european-parliament-brussels-eu As I was saying........... She likes to do things in private and doesn't like public scrutiny!0 -
It's looking increasingly like the EU Withdrawal Bill will fail without amendments.
Good news for democracy, especially as Parliamentary Sovereignty was such a large part of the referendum. Keir Starmer has said that voting for the bill would betray everything the house is there to do and I am increasingly inclined to agree with him.
I believe that the powers being asked for by the government should not be granted on the basis of the Supreme Court ruling last year.
My personal view is still that any form of Brexit should be stopped at this stage, with anything I have just said not to be used to discredit that.💙💛 💔0 -

So what do you offer the 17m+ who voted for Brexit as a replacement?
A politician would have to offer something substantive, wouldn't they?
Otherwise, people would just not bother voting in the future, if their vote means nothing.
So...let's talk turkey. For a start I would like the same infrastructure spend in the NW/NE, as in London0 -
What makes you think that?CKhalvashi wrote: »
