When ebay first launched here there was not much on it.
If ebayers want true competition, then it's well worth while listing on ebid and tazbar to help build the sites.
Just to correct a slight misunderstanding, ebid is not a new auction site it has been running for at least 8 years and isn't therefore really comparable with Tazbar which is only a couple of years old.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I find it tedious to see that it is almost always those who have failed who comment on alternative sites to eBay.
Some people who use eBid are doing quite nicely, have regular customers, sell a fair amount and save a fortune compared to comparable sales on eBay. However, those are the people who have taken the effort to adapt their selling technique to the different environment.
Most people automatically assume that selling on all sites will be exactly the same as on eBay; list an item - even with a pretty naff description - and someone, somewhere, will buy it. Well the reality is that you might be able to get away with that on eBay because they have hundreds of millions of members, but you're unlikely to be able to do that anywhere else.
So many people complain that there are no decent alternatives to eBay, yet these very same people are the ones who can't be bothered to make the effort necessary to use the alternatives that already exist. What chance does everywhere else have if everyone expects it to be a clone of eBay and then gives up on it when it isn't?
Anyway, enough ramblings.
The offer is still on.
Management have extended it so that it finishes TONIGHT.
£50 for a lifetime membership and the chance to have ZERO FEES EVER.

But did those video shops give people the chance to save (tens of?) thousands of pounds over the lifetime of their subscription? Why Pay High Fees

Why would someone who plans on making serious money choose to sell on ebid over ebay? Ebid claim to be free but they charge you when you register a sellers account.
Ebay has a much greater audience and items sell for much more.
We all want a decent alternative to ebay but ebid is not even close. Why should sellers have to make the effort to make ebid more popular, that's down to ebid's marketing department, who may I add are not doing a very good job.
If ebid is 'free' why are they charging people for membership?0 -
WOW, they have been busy, changed there look which is alot more appealing now. I havent been on the site for more than a year. Like how it looks now and may consider putting some stuff up. Since I dont want to pay listing fees for something that doesnt sell.0

Unlike eBay, you can sell on eBid with ZERO FEES. So what if there is a one-off registration fee? Do you think that any business can survive with zero income at all? At least with eBid you have the chance to save thousands, so what is a single registration fee compared to that?RoyaleMale wrote: »Ebay has a much greater audience and items sell for much more.
Some items sell for much more, yes. However, as more and more people are finding out, sellers are no longer guaranteed sales on eBay, yet eBay are guaranteed to take their fees from you no matter what.RoyaleMale wrote: »We all want a decent alternative to ebay but ebid is not even close.
In your opinion.RoyaleMale wrote: »Why should sellers have to make the effort to make ebid more popular, that's down to ebid's marketing department, who may I add are not doing a very good job.
There are always arguments about who should do what. The reality is that if people want a low fee/no fee environment, then they will have to make some compromises. Anyone who expects to be able to sell for nothing AND still have the site spend hundreds of thousands of pounds in advertising campaigns is living in la-la land.
However, who says you have to sell on one site OR the other? A sensible person would take advantage of what is on offer, split their stock between two or more sites, adapt sales techniques to each environment and then see about making their fortune. Why Pay High Fees

Ebid is free why anyone would waste £50 for a lifetime membership beggars belief.
Most sellers like myself have tried ebid, I listed the same 10 items on ebay as I did on ebid, the 10 on ebid never sold, the 10 on ebay did. The price of the items on ebid were lower because there are no fees.
If ebid is so good why do nearly all the sellers have zero feedback? Seriously if it was any good there would be tons of sellers with decent feedback, not tons of sellers with zero feedback.0 -
Has anobody actually bothered to sign up for this lifetime membership thing or is this another ebid plug?0

1 reason apart from zero (Selling) fee's is the acceptance of Google Checkout!!
