  • Morning all :hello: :coffee:
I'm still feeling a bit sorry for myself this morning about the GCSE results - spent a long time blaming myself and wondering what more I could have done - feel like I've sold the good kids a bit short to be honest. Meh. I do work hard though and I try my best..
Today's plans are just about non existent. I'm still in my nightie even though I've been up since 5am... I have to do a couple of loads of washing and the minimum housework but other than that I may just stay in and crochet. DS had a friend over to stay last night so everyone is a bit short of sleep today. Nothing wrong with having one day of doing nothing is there?

Morning all :hello: why do I always wake early at the weekend :o

At least it gives me time to post on here :T some splendid money saving going in this week. Nice work on the eating out 1LL and happy anniversary for today. I've ordered some mr t vouchers (we don't do much shopping there so don't get anywhere near as much as we used to) for a meal out tomorrow.

    Today's plans include:
Phograph box of hair dye I used for first time last night so I can buy again when I see it on offer as it's a nice colour
Going to friends for tea, will text her and see if she wants me to bring something
Out to local park with same friends before tea. Will take drinks and a snack.
Other meals from stores - OOD yogurt in breakfast smoothie
Do meal plan for next week and see what shopping we need, must remember DD is having packed lunches 4 days
    Check surveys, FPL and banking
Pay for opticians from 'medical pot'
Wrap and post fleabay parcel, finally sold after about 6 times of listing. Find cheapest way as it's quite heavy. Move money to savings once done.

Think the weather will be fair, so that will be lovely. Is hope it ripens some of my glut of tomatoes :)
  • Morning purps :) sounds like you've a busy day! Have fun.

    happy anniversay 1LL :)

Not much in the way of small things as we have a busy day. Going to a arts/family festival thingy at the local uni at lunchtime. Will be lots of free events. Then we are supposed to be staying over at a country pub (we've booked the caravan on site). Not sure if the staying over is going to happen as it is my friend who's father has died.

Need to plan as if we are going - so pack, work out food & drinks for morning & snacks etc

given that not much in the way of small things...

Go to the allotment in a minute :) should have a lot of runner beans

do a load of washing & hang out

make sure we have a big breakfast & early lunch before going out ;)

Try not to spend too much....

Ok off to the lottie now :) have a lovely w/e everyone x

    Morning all :)
    Happy Anniversary 1LL :)
CCL, don't beat yourself up over the exam results. We know how hard you work at your job, but you can only do so much. And not helped by the bl*ddy government keep changing the goalposts :(

We are off out later to a surprise pub lunch party for one of OH's former colleagues' 60th birthday. I would rather stay here as I have lots of food prep / garden stuff I want to do, but it is at least already paid for, apart from drinks and a contribution to a collective present. I shall limit myself to a diet coke, as I don't like to drink at lunchtime, and OH will probably only have 1 drink, so not anticipating a big spend there! I am glad we went, it was a nice occasion and the venue was beautiful (old country house hotel with a walled garden :))

I anticipate we will probably be there for most of the afternoon, and still have to decide what to wear  so no great ambitions for today. Still, keeping the MS faith, I have / will:

HG blueberries and raspberries with breakfast :)
Freezer tetris to fit in 5 foil tubs of roasted tomato sauce I made yesterday  Done, I am an expert at this :rotfl:
Check tomato stash to see if I need to 'do' anything with them today, or if it can wait till tomorrow They can wait till tomorrow!
Pick more tomatoes  So can these!
Pick French beans and raspberries Done, also found another 4 cucumbers  I have a big stack of these now!
Examine the iron fertiliser I bought with Amazon gift card money (from surveys) to see when I should apply it. This is for my raspberries which look a bit yellow and pasty, bay tree and blueberry. Nope, still in its box :o
Collect a parcel left at one of the neighbour's. This is nothing exciting, a new shower squeegee thingy as the one in the main bathroom has split. £4.99 more survey gift card money spent on this glamorous item :rotfl:Done
Check banks - I spent loads yesterday, GD1's laptop plus a new mattress :( OH's side on the one we have has a big hole / depression in it, and he woke up complaining of backache. Have tried turning it, but it is just worn out :( Had it 6 years, which isn't great, and although I had to pay for it yesterday, the new one won't be delivered for 4-6 weeks :(. We have had a very spendy few months, which is not good when on a small fixed income, and our savings are becoming depleted. Must rein this in! Put it off
Ponder how to spend over £50 in cashback vouchers which came with the mattress (we did at least get a good deal, sale price almost 50% off, and the vouchers). I don't normally shop at this department store, so need to make a list of what we need that we might be able to get there. The vouchers need using within 2 weeks, and I am not going to lose them, or spend more than the face value! Got a few ideas!

Will do the usual dog walks etc, and see if anything in the garden needs watering later, but realistically won't get much else done! Have a great day all :)

    Happy Anniversary LL:)

It's a slob day for me:)

I always used to feel unsettled on a Saturday for some reason. Now there are alot of my favourite radio shows on a Saturday, I always feel much more happier that I have a routine around the shows-sounds daft I know.

Usual stuff done this morning. I plan to give the kitchen floor and clean and mop later and swish round the cat area aswell but I'm not planning on doing anything else.

I managed to catch up on my grocery spends and found that I was £50 under budget. Bulk buying the cat food when it was on offer a couple of months ago has certainly helped.
DD has been at her boyfriends this week so that has helped as well, she is like a locust:rotfl::rotfl:
Need to try and keep spends down as the diy is costing a fortune, but some needed doing really badly and I've made the most of offers when I could.
After the bathroom, will need to really start saving to get the living room done.......going to need a fair few pennies for that.........operation living room is planned for next year.
The not so new addition-the little caped crusader has been fine tuning her hunting techniques.......for pens:rotfl::rotfl:........it's amazing how many of my craft pens she has found so far:D.
have a great day everyone x

    Good Afternoon All

    1LL - Happy Anniversary!

Lots of walking this week and loving it, so much so that yesterdays turned into a 10 mile stroll around a localish reservoir (Ladybower). Yesterday was the official day for DH retiring. Sun is shining and definitely raises the spirits and motivation to get on with stuff. Today we have/will

    Checked Bank and make PAD
    Dog walks
    Washing - all line dried
    Ironing
    DH deep cleaned bathroom
    Beds stripped and remade
    Purge a few emails
    Enter a few comps
    Surveys
    All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer
    Checked: Luckyphone, Ashleigh, FPL

    Have a great weekend all.

Morning :) yippee still in holiday mode today :) off to a localish cider festival :) so need to get our act together quite soon, as oh wants to be back so he can be out to watch the football for 4.... change of plans and we're not going now! Planning a home day with the addition of a park visit when cabin fever sets in. This gives me the op to deal with a mountain of veg!

a fellow allotmentier has just dropped round several kilos of apples! We are completely overrun with veg at this point!

    [STRIKE]In a minute I'm going to flylady the kitchen[/STRIKE]

[STRIKE]load of washing in machine & will hang up before going out. Will do another load[/STRIKE]

We're looking into buying a super king size bed and mattress - our standard is too small when madam comes and gets in! The represents a huge challenge to me on many levels and not least as I find it hard to spend large amounts of money!

[STRIKE]I need to go through the fridge and give it a clean & make sure everything is either going to be used or frozen ;) [/STRIKE] froze 1/2 can of mushy peas, need to blanch some runner beans and broccoli floret. Still need to go through the veg drawers

    List 1 thing on fleabay

[STRIKE]Jackets for dinner[/STRIKE] scrap that doing colcannon to use up kale picked yesterday ;)

[STRIKE]froze a portion of spag for a quick meal for oh & madam during the week[/STRIKE] ;)

go through cc statements and sort out what is from where....

Ok that's all of the things I need to do. Am sure there will be loads of real "small things" along

    Morning Sunday Savers,
Not too much money saving planned for today as have friends coming over for a BBQ later, but will be aiming to keep the frugal faith:
*Bake marigold scones to serve warm with pot of
    tea when they arrive.
*2 BBQ items are my YS finds.
*Pick tomatoes & feed them, also feed peppers, chillies, sweetcorn, squash & courgettes.
*Cut rocket & last of the frilly lettuce for tonight's salad, also spring onions.
*Find 3 chutney recipes & check I have the ingredients.
*Load washer & set timer for overnight laundry on cheap tariff.
    *Knit.
*mr f says he might pop into town for new air bed as ours developed a leak on last camping trip. If so, make sure he takes cash from Household Pig. Did a really careful budget on Fri & I don't want any additional spending from our account when we need to be using allocated cash.
*Investigate pet food offer......44 pouches of cat's preferred brand for £10 is pretty good. RRP is 12 pouches for £4.85, but we often get it in Wilko's at 12 for £3.25.
*4 nice magazines from my Mum put saved for camping trip. I routinely used to buy 3 or 4 expensive monthly mags to take on holidays, so have saved about £18.
*Quick clean downstairs using minimal products & washable cloths.......will split labours so more time for leisure.
Fab sunshine even here in the murky midlands.
    F xx

    Morning everyone

Off out for a trip today to try and get tablet fixed. Hoping it can get done under the warranty.

Yesterday I didn't get to swish the mop over. Did have a tidy up, went to bed early for leg elevation and to listen to favourite radio show but crashed out at 7.30pm until 5am this morning. I vaguely remember answering some questions that DD asked me-for the life of me I can't remember what they were!! I then dozed until 6am so must of needed it.
I'm hoping for another NSD day today, will be eating out of the freezer.
I also need to do a foxgloves and start looking at cat food comparisons.
    Happy retirement to Mr Ziggy
    DNMS-
have a great time at the cider festival.

Right off to send a couple of emails and then start getting ready to go out
have a great day everyone x

HappyKitties - the issue with cat food here is that our cat is a jelly licker. He licks all the jelly off, leaves the meat to go dry then won't eat it & embarks on a meowathon until another pouch is opened. This limits the brands we can buy as we aim to be a zero food waste household. We tend to go for the Felix variety which is a bit dearer but has little shreds of meat instead of larger chunks. He gobbles it all down because he can't separate the jelly off. So we always look for good offers on that food because we never end up throwing any of it out. Big late-neutered rescue cat, had been a homeless street cat for ages & was in a bad way from cat fights when the Rescue took him in to clean him up for rehoming, so I don't know why he doesn't gratefully eat everything we put in front of him! If he could live on BBQ & pastrami out of mr f's sandwiches, he would!!
