What small DFW things will you do this week - w/c 21 August

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

    Hi August Awesomees,

    I'm awake so am trying to wear myself out so I feel sleepy. We're going on holiday soon so I need to tie up things at home and get ready for the holiday for which I have done smurf-all preparation so far. This list will grow as I get things done...if it stops growing: I've fallen asleep. :tongue:

    Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Three:

    * Checked online banking.

    * Checked Broadband Allowance.

    * Made a Day-By-Day list that'll help me plan for holiday.

    * Planned Finances for Sept.

    * Later go to Superdrug to spend the £5 I won the other day.

    * Checked DW's balances.

    * Sort out RM Surveys.

    * Opened the post. That's £100 earned from surveys this year.

    Onwards and upwards.

    Good morning everyone! Another fresh week, yay!

    Money conscience efforts I'll make today:
    Have transferred my plum account savings and natwestvreward account savings to my bank account to pay towards my credit cards

    Children going to holiday club, I'm staying in all day and not planning on spending any money.

    Going to meal plan for the week

    Going to call virgin and try and barter them down for broadband and tv package

    Happy Monday all x
    LBM January 2017 £34k will have paid back finally by my DFD May 2021
    got my first store card on my 18th birthday, never known a life without the grey cloud of debt looming over me. 18yrs and the end is finally in sight 🤩

    Morning :) thanks for starting the thread ally :) where are you guys going on holiday? Honestly we always prepare for holidays on the night before! Things like hiring cars etc, looking up things to do, making sure washing is done and anything needed is purchased in the couple of weeks before. You've loads of time :D

    day 2 (or 3 depending on how you look at it!) of our staycation :j The weather is dismal so needing indoory kind of activities. Thinking about the shell grotto in Margate. Entrance is £8. Also contemplating going to the cinema as tickets for the 3 of us £8.40 but the only films are the emoji movie, which has terrible reviews but possibly madam would like best, or Captain Underpants, better reviews but prob less madam's thing.....

    Will make sandwiches, snacks & drinks with us for lunch ;)

    [STRIKE]Think I'm going to make the ratatouille in a minute, so it's ready when we get back[/STRIKE]

    [STRIKE]email allotment person re refund[/STRIKE]

    [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE] received £4.55 interest :D that's almost a bottle of wine ;) & have a financial summit with oh tonight as lots of spends recently from each other's accounts and experience has taught me any longer and things get missed

    Have just filled in a survey to get a big mac & fries for £1.99 so think that's a happy meal and that for madam & oh on Thurs or Friday while I'm at work :money:

    was hoping to get to the allotment this morning but too wet. Might be able to go for an hour this evening. We'll see how the day pans out...

    Today's 15 min super speedy clean will be the bathroom :cool2:

    Think I'll treat us to a bottle of wine for this evening and apart from GOT have a screen free night with oh see above *almost* free wine :money:

    make beeswax wraps (alternative to clingfilm). Was given beeswax and will use material in stores. Have high hopes for these and if they turn out good I'll be making some for people for gifts for Christmas :money: Have emailed friend to see if she has some pinking scissors and if so can I borrow them ;)

    Ok better start thinking of getting ready :D

    Good morning everyone
    Thank you to Ally for starting us off
    Banking all checked and cat cleaning done.
    Out this morning to get some jobs done, some minimal spends but have a £5 voucher so that will help.
    It's the last minute bits with operation back bedroom that are costing so I'm trying to keep spends down where I can.
    Some phonecalls and a small amount of paperwork to do when I get back and then I plan to do abit more in the back bedroom.
    Tomorrow I hope to start planning operation bathroom but there is only so much diy I can cope with before I get really frazzled......it's something I really hate.
    Hoping to get some general shopping done tomorrow, looking forward to having a reduced food bill with DD not being here, but she is costing in other ways getting bits for uni, but she won't take expensive bits with her and my mum is actually enjoying the planning of getting DD to uni.......although I think my mum is going a little overboard with the kitchen stuff.......I did say that she didn't need so much to hold dinner parties....but it's keeping my mum happy
    Have a great day everyone xx

    Morning all :hello:

    I am WFH today and was hoping to take DD out today as I worked for about 4 hours last night to get ahead. However, its grey and miserable here so I will have to think again.

    Today's plans include:

    Frozen dough and value mozzarella out of freezer for HM pizza for smalls
    HM stock and some stripped chicken out of freezer in a risotto
    checked banking, paid some money off our 0% spending, just for points CC
    Have list for supermarket and wholesaler today based on menu plan
    look when offers at online butchers we have used in the past ends, they are very good at the moment and I would like to use them, but will leave it til as late as possible to buy (even though they will all go in freezer anyway)
    Some knitting tonight
    Go for run later when DH gets up before he goes out on nights again
    Move everything I can out of lounge as were having our replacement carpet on Wednesday to replace the faulty one
    Draw a plan of the garden (front and back) and work out what needs removing and where I can plant some fruit trees :D
    Contact Architect with some feedback
    DD to opticians, will be FOC

    Right, off to do some stuff. Enjoy your day peeps

    * Went to Superdrug. Spent £7.80 on just-in-case medications for holiday but actually had £7 of points so they cost 80p!

    Hope you got off to sleep in the end Ally!
    Grey, drizzly and miserable here this morning, but it is supposed to cheer up a bit this afternoon. Not improved much, sadly :( So far today I have:
    Had HG raspberries with breakfast :)
    Taken dog to vets for his booster jab - this is covered as part of the pet care club thingy I belong to at the vet's, so no additional cost. He wasn't happy though :( Also got flea and worm tablets under pet care club plan :)He has been a bit subdued all day, asleep on my feet now. Hopefully he will have forgotten about his ordeal tomorrow :(
    Labelled a boxful of items and took to sales unit. Sales have been dire over the last week, but this is usually the case in August tbh. Tidied up and restocked. Brought a boxful back, so must put this away.
    Sold an unwanted pair of shoes on FB - really should have returned them but didn't do so in time. Shan't do that again! Still, I got something back for them, and they are out of the house.
    Bits from fridge for lunch

    Still to do:
    Something imaginative with mince for dinner :rotfl:Fail - had jacket potatoes with tuna mayo -must do the mince tomorrow though!
    Sort out dining room which has become a dumping ground :(Done :T
    Check banks Not yet
    Check for surveys Only a couple for onepoll so far
    Pick garden produce if it dries out Dried out enough to pick half a basket of tomatoes, 2 cucumbers and half a bowlful of raspberries :)
    Read meters and enter readings on to Ovo's web site Not yet

    Hope everyone is having a good day and that the rotten weather perks up!

    Afternoon all, another day another dollar!

    I got up early today to collect the duvet set I bought to cut down to make curtains for the can, I'm going to sew them on my commute. I also picked up DS's Reading Festival ticket so he'll be excited.

    They have announced that this Thursday and Friday instead of a 50% train service it will only be 25%, joy of joys, I may as well book the days off now :angry: I was hoping DS and his friend would go to Reading by train but they will be affected too so I will probably have to drive them. I'm hoping the other boy's mum might offer to collect them on BH Monday when they are tired and smelly :eek:

    What I thought was a pack of YS finest mozzarella pearls was in fact a big, yummy single one which I've just had for lunch with HG cherry tomatoes and basil. Get me, I don't even like raw tomatoes! I'm planning on using more of them in an anchovy spaghetti dish tonight.

    I don't have many watchers on my ebay stuff but do have one on a big ticket item. I also have a message from a buyer that bought something on Wednesday and thought she'd get it by Friday (thanks, ebay) even though it stated it would be sent within one business day and by second class. I sense she's going to be trouble.
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10
