Hi all,
Busy day getting the house back to normal following departure of guests.
*NSD
*Guest beds stripped & 3 out of 4 bed-sets washed. Now drying outside on the line for free.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & breakfast.
*Leftovers for lunch.
*More leftovers for meal tonight with only addition being a jacket potato each. Tweaked meal plan still further to utilise leftover sweetcorn & tortilla wraps tomorrow. No food waste here.
*Even more leftovers frozen.
*Did triage of the fridge & extracted 4.5 lbs of courgettes for pickling tomorrow.
*Triage of the vegetable basket yielded 1lb unused carrots. Prepped, blanched & froze.
*Knit
*Read library book.
*Make list of jobs I can usefully do in town tomorrow when I have the car to make best use of fuel & opportunity to park for free.
*Read Sunday paper which B-in-law left behind :-)
Cheers all,

Hi All
Ally - Thanks for starting us off today
Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.
We're dog sitting for my hairdresser friend for the next couple of weeks, got up this morning to find that dog had destroyed one of DS's footballs (that would be the noise I heard about 2ish:rotfl:), other than that he's well behaved and took a real shine to DH - he's like his shadow. Today we managed:
Checked Bank & made PAD
Lovely walk around Damflask
All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer
Checked: Luckyphone, Ashleigh, Numberplatelotto, FPL
Night all

Good (very early) morning all,
Yesterday was a NSD woo! Many more to come!
Yesterday my plan was:
Used plum account and NatWest rewards to put towards credit cards- done
Meal planned and found I had 2 weeks worth of meals so that's my challenge until September!
Need to call virgin stlll, don't think I'll bother bartering, just cancel as the box is seriously useless.
Today's plan
Aim for another nsd!
Taking the children Pok!mon hunting, will take food with us so I don't get stung treating them to a drive through
Make a list for tomorrow as will need some fridge top ups I think.
And sort out the children's sleeping routines so I don't get woken at 4am anymore!!
Have a great Tuesday everyone!LBM January 2017 £34k will have paid back finally by my DFD May 2021got my first store card on my 18th birthday, never known a life without the grey cloud of debt looming over me. 18yrs and the end is finally in sight 🤩0 -
Morning Angela84
enjoy the pokemon day!
So I think oh is going to work today, although last night he was saying he wished he wasn't. I've arranged to meet up with my godson & his nan at the local wildlife park (using membership) and then to come back for lunch & a playdate
Other than the cost of some waffles it's a free day
text nan and get her to bring swimming cozie and scooter/bike done.
Ha ha oh has now decided to take the day off
[STRIKE]need to do a load of washing[/STRIKE] & hang up. Also polish & vacuum madam's room and clean bathroom - opps didn't do yesterday! as oh is now off that has given me the gift of time as he will do some of the things needing doing
dig out sterilising solution to sterilise jug to make cider vinegar in
I'd really like to list some things on fleabay
Do a sesh on the exercise bike at some point
dinner will be jacket potatoes
That'll do for now. Trying to muster the motivation to go to the allotment for an hour. Mmmmm another coffee I think! Have a great day x went to the lottie. It thanked me for my dedication by giving me 5 cucumbers, 2 courgettes,
a 1/2 a punnet of raspberries and strawberries & a handful of runner beans, my late sowing of french beans and a few florettes of broccoli :money:
9 am and the house is tidy, the bathroom is 1/2 and I've been to the SM & shopping is bought for guests. Not bad work!DF as at 30/12/16

Morning all :hello: enjoy your day Determined hope you're feeling better this week Ziggy
I'm working today, so day in the office with a 1 hour + commute each way won't leave a lot for other things but I've been at it already so plans include:
Pork stew in SC, use last spoon of a jar of chutney and half a frozen stock cube (those jelly ones) - done
Some butter beans out of freezer for DH to put in later - done
Slice of hm malt loaf from freezer for breakfast - done
Smalls will have breakfast at holiday club
LO risotto and some fruit to work, hot drink for commute
Check banking, all ok - done
Check food spends - all ok - done spent £26 on weekly shop yesterday which must be some sort of record for us, it's amazing what a bit of extra focus can do
Some knitting later, didn't manage this last night, was too tired.
Limit screen time tonight
Get lounge prepped as new carpet coming tomorrow, so need to move everything other than sofas out.
Right, must go and get in the shower and wake the smalls up. Enjoy your day peeps.0 -
Hello you lovely lot
Ally - thanks for the kick off. :A When I am getting stressed about holiday packing I think 'what if I won a free holiday but had to leave straightaway - could I do it?' And then I realise I know where my passport is and a few things to wear so it will all be a-ok.
DNMS - sounds like you're really enjoying your staycation. :T
Ziggy - ha ha, never a dull moment with a dog in the house.
Big love to everyone else :grouphug:
Got a new benefits portal at work. Happy because the two things I use most have improved - 7.5% discount card is now 8% and 3% cashback deal is now 3% discount :T Need to look through all the other benefits - seemed to be a free coffee once a month, a free movie rental once a month and lots of discounts on places I would never go etc...
Not much other things going on - haven't sorted lunch so that'll be an expensive day for us both. Must go shopping tonight.... :think:0 -
Morning all
Thought I would make my list early today to try to organise my day:
HG raspberries for breakfast, more raspberries frozen
Load of washing in, hoping the weather perks up so it can go outside - it is seriously grey and grotty atmDried ok, got it in just before the heavens (briefly) opened
Walk dog x 2
Deal with the mince I have out of the freezer! Done, this was game meat mince. Made 4 burgers and the basis for 2 'gamekeepers pies' in the SC. Had burgers for dinner, and they were delicious - there is one left for another time as I could only manage one. The pie base smells lovely tooMust freeze half once it cools down, the rest will go in the fridge for tomorrow.
Check fridge for anything else that needs using / freezing I have been on a roll - half a tub of houmous frozen, half a bunch of (bought, slugs keep eating mine ) parsley, chopped and frozen in an ice cube tray, some baby beetroot from the garden now cooked and back in the fridge, a slice of stilton made into broccoli and stilton soup with some broccoli and cauliflower from the freezer
Updated freezer list (I am really rubbish at this)
Read meters and enter readings onto Ovo's web site Done
Pick French beans Done
Also picked 2 cucumbers and half a small bowl of raspberries
See if any of my plants in big pots need watering (despite the rain...) Done, French bean pots and the quince tree needed water.
Water salad seedlings in greenhouse Done
Make a list and do some shopping later All done
We are looking after GD tomorrow and are going to take her for a picnic in our camper van, so need to move her car seat from the car to the vanDone
That will do to start with, I will be back later to update!0 -

Afternoon all
Found a two pound coin on the floor at work, it's been the highlight of my day, I never find money!
Breakfast was powdered soup and lunch was a YS sandwich (tuna and cucumber, my favourite!)
I ended up not cooking the anchovy spaghetti last night as I managed to get a couple of pots of SFC pasta for 40p each so we had that instead so maybe tonight (depending on what the YS cabinet has to offer.)
No excitement to report on any of my 38 ebay listings apart from an IKAE wardrobe which has 14 watchers, lets hope they get into a bidding frenzy! I reduced a couple of other things last night but I'm going to put them back up again, I just need to learn the art of patience and keep relisting until they sell.
I might take a table at the indoor sale again, it was dire last time and I swore I'd not go again but the table is cheap, it's for a good cause, it will clear out a little of the junk and even if I only make twenty quid it's twenty quid I didn't have before.
Another aubergine is ready for picking, I was hoping a couple more would catch up so I could pickle them but may make baba ganoush with it instead. I gave in to temptation and tried my first jar of pickled aubergine, the balance of everything tastes about right but it's not quite ready yet
I posted my PPI claim today, fingers crossed xMake £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
Hello Tuesday Savers,
A useful day, tho not an NSD as had to pop out for a few ungredients needed for today's kitchen efforts:
*Laundry done on timer overnight for cheap tariff. All dried outside for free.
*Two baths from one lot of hot water.
*Leftover croissants for breakfast.
*Free 'Guardian' & coffee at Waitrose.
*YS items perused....they were piled high but mostly ready-made stuff which I don't buy. Just bought a pack of 4 steaks, reduced to £2.75.
*Did some greenhouse maintenance & picked what was ready - tomatoes, 3 peppers, chillies, rocket, spring onions & blackberries.
*Quesadillas for dinner using up tortilla wraps & last of a tin of sweetcorn.
*Pulled up all the basil plants in my greenhouse border as starting to get straggly. Made 4 pots of pesto & froze.
*Pickled 4lbs of courgettes. Made 6 large jars.
*Found half a cauli in fridge which I missed yesterday. Prepped & froze.
*Harvested ripe marogold seed to sow next year for free flowers. Picked the last of the flowers to dry petals for more marigold scones.
*Knit.
And now I'm off to walk up & down our long garden 6 times as that will give me the last steps I need to meet today's target.
