Morning all.
Did I spot a puff of smoke on the thread last night? :rotfl:
DH was much better when I visited him yesterday evening. The Drs are threatening to send him home but he is (thankfully) determined to stay in until at least tomorrow. I got to bed at a reasonable time last night, having relaxed with LL Family and a delicious piece of battered fish, and woke up at 5.00 with my brain in full gear. I was rewarded with a beautiful sunrise at 5.30 and have already
- drunk tea and stroked Rosie
- emptied the dishwasher
- moved DH's clothes from the WM to the TD (can't trust the weather, despite the sunrise)
- weighed out ingredients for choc brownies - it's the British Glass Biennale this weekend, and my church is one of the exhibition and cake stations, as our churchyard is full of famous glass makers
- decluttered and cleaned my box of food colourings and flavourings as I tried to find the vanilla essence
- lined 2 baking tins
- drunk coffee and stroked Rosie
- written a shopping list, with eggs for coffee cakes at the top! I find baking highly therapeutic and very pleasurable, so 2 batches of brownies, 2 coffee cakes and some Twink's will be my reward for working hard this morning. [ETA: not for me to eat!]
- decluttered and cleaned DH's drawer in the bathroom as I tried to work out which razor blades might fit the razor that he's got in hospital (he tried shaving off his 6-day beard yesterday   )
- decluttered a load of papers from around my desk and discovered the important sheaf of "Guidance for writing the individual components of the Portfolio Assessment" Part 1 is OK-ish but needs a bit of tweaking and a few quotes from books that I haven't read.
I need to send some update emails to family and friends, then I'll have some breakfast and get showered and dressed before I start writing Part 2.
The bathroom will get S&S'd after my shower, the kitchen after my baking.
I expect I shall be falling asleep on the sofa after lunch.... Fortunately the vicar has promised to ring before he turns up on the doorstep :rotfl:
DS1 called round very briefly yesterday afternoon to give me a hug and deliver some cards for DH from DGD1+2, and he has taken away DH's old broken chair in the back of his Land Rover :T In its place we have a wing chair on temporary loan from our NDN, and I must order DH's new all-singing all-dancing throne asap. But that involves going to see the fabric options at a shop near the hospital which closes at 5.30, when visiting doesn't start until 6.30. I think I might end up taking a packed tea with me tonight and eating it in the hospital car park!
(((Hugs))) and sticks all round as needed - and many thanks to you all for keeping me sane xxx Sorry, but I still need to hang onto my spoons atm. Hope everyone has a good day.0 -

Iona so glad to hear your Dh is improving
Hugs good wishes and posi vibes to all who need/want them
Had work yesterday morning, followed by flying then bleaching pine cones (not sure that worked) finished reading a book then did done cross stitch today I need to fly then get a cardi fished do it can be tried on at the weekend. Dd3 was almost tearing her hair out last night its two weeks till her wedding and some people still haven't confirmed! She's had a order a cake Tin so I've still got cake layer to make and marzipan- I'm sure she'll be icing it round here the night before the wedding at the rate we're going. And don't get me started on how many taxis I'm having to book grrrrrrr.

Glad to hear that Mr ionafan is improving. Wow, ionafan I'm exhausted just reading what you've done already today
- says she who has crawled out of bed, breakfasted and put first load in WM.
I've only done the dailies for a couple of days around lunching with a friend, visiting a colleague post-op and picking up the keys ready for budgie duty whilst friends are on holiday. I've been involved in conversations around returning to work and they took all my spoons somehow
And breathe .....
So, today I have a full day at home (before accompanying DS to his pub quiz tonight). I'll get dressed, do the dailies and then see where I'm going to MAD today.
Hope the sun keeps shining - not seen a forecast.

Morning everyone :rotfl:
Kitchen tidied with party groceries put away. Kids are banned from devices again lol I will send them off to find some toys to take to my mums - we are supposed to be babysitting the tiny dot while she's at a meeting. He's not invited, apparently, despite the meeting being about him
it seems his teeny cuteness would be a distraction to proceedings... And unbeknownst to me, I have been added as an approved babysitter!
Weather much more benign here today so will evict the furries onto the lawn and get a wash going to peg out.
I've sorted DD presents, a few small bits to pack for holiday, a few for Saturday's tea party and a few for when we get back... Also need to sort the cases, do my nails, mocha gr the beds, pack for the furries holiday, fix the landing window, hang decorations, yada yada yadaBossymoo

Morning All,
We have another day out planned today visiting friends so looking forward to that. WM spinning around as I type - will peg out before we go. DW unloaded, bag of outgrown clothes bagged up to take for said friend's daughters.
Must list a couple of things on ebay too - was too busy being grumpy yesterday to do it :rotfl:
Have great days all and still thinking of Mr Ionafan xxMFW

Morning all! Thanks to those who have welcomed me ( I promise to learn names soon!) and I appreciate the advice and encouragement.
I did a little bit yesterday, and I am glad someone suggested not looking at the whole house as a House of Doom. I am concentrating on making my living room and bedroom acceptable, but even they are very neglected. I have managed to keep the knicker drawer in Marie Kondo style, but it's not something I would show to visitors! But it shows that I could achieve something eventually. Today I will get DH to help stripping the bed, as soon as I can get him out of it! It is drizzling here at the moment so no rush, and I have clean bedding ready to put on the bed, so I won't worry about getting this dry today.
DS lives independently, but has a number of illnesses and cannot work. He's just been declared fit for work by the DWP so all his money has stopped. We are appealing the decision, and getting advice from a welfare advice centre, but they can't see us till September 7th. We have until 14th to get our submission in, and they have a target of processing it within about a month. He's only 3 points short of the amount needed, so it shouldn't be too hard, but the stress is awful. If we weren't here I don't know how he would cope. He already has mental health issues but this has nearly pushed him over the edge. He's come to stay with us for a few days so at least I know he's going to eat. If he's successful in this challenge he will get his benefit reinstated and they will pay it back to July when it stopped, but the decision won't be until sometime in October. It really is a heartless system.
Sorry to burden you with this, but it is easier to tell people online rather than in real life. DS tries hard to put on a brave face, so people often don't realise how bad things are for him. I feel disloyal if I tell people that he is not as well as he appears, so I don't talk about his benefits status. DD 2is a GP and fortunately can afford to lend us some money if we're stuck, but I know it's her IVF fund, so we have to repay quickly.
On a brighter note, a friend and his family are coming to pick me up tomorrow to go to an exhibition at the Tate in Liverpool. They know that I will be very slow walking and will have to sit down quite often, but the 2 kids have said they are happy to keep me company if I give up, and the older one ( a strapping 14 year old now) has assured me that he can get our drinks and cake from the cafe when I get tired. They have been lovely while I have been ill, and are happy to sit and chat. I know that I couldn't have done that as a teenager. It will be good to see the whole family, and we will all go out for a meal one evening when they are all back at school. It's the first September that I am not preparing for the new school year. I was actually in hospital this time last year, but fully expected to be there at the start of term. I must pull myself together and enjoy the possibilities, instead of dwelling on what I have lost. For the first time since DD1 started school in 1983 I will be able to book a holiday during term time, so I might just do that once DS's appeal is lodged. I can't get travel insurance so it will have to be UK, but it doesn't matter, it will be cheaper and the weather is not bad in September usually. Now I must stop procrastinating and do something on my list of things to do!0 -
Aww grandmasue it's a sad (and seemingly arbitrary) system that leaves people dangling far too long xx
Wrapped some presents and sorted some packing. Will go make lunches now to take to my mumsBossymoo
