    Hi Weekend People,
Just grabbing a quiet 5 mins before guests arrive. Busy day - how much of it was money saving? Let's see:
*Decided not to go into town centre. That's bound to have saved a little bit of a spend.
    *Free coffees in Waitrose.
*Fortified by free coffee, went to peruse the ys offerings. Bought a half price pack of Aberdeen angus burgers to freeze towards BBQ next weekend when we have friends over.
*Did not get spendy in farm shop. Went in for 2 haslets, came out with 2 haslets.
    *Baked biscuits for tomorrow's picnic.
*Baked & decorated birthday cake which will double up as dessert tomorrow night. Filled with home made jam & apart from butter, I had everything else in stock.
*Prepped & froze 1.5 kilos rhubarb.
*mr f picked another bowl of blackberries - all the high up ones I can't reach! Now frozen.
    *Knitted another blanket square.
*Swished water around empty conditioner bottle & made sufficient for today's hair wash.
*Picked more tomatoes plus coriander & made the spice paste & prepped veggies as a 'dump bag' for feeding guests tomorrow night. Only got to apply paste to beef first thing in the morning & shove the whole lot in the slow cooker.
*Fill rolls for tomorrow's picnic. Got to be a big saving on buying lunch out for 6 of us, even taking into account splitting the bill.
*mr f fed & watered all the veggies.
So....not my greatest of frugal days but not spendy either & have pretty much kept the faith. This month has been really stressful & it does definitely help me to keep in close control of those things I actually do have some influence over.
    Love to all.

    Good Sunday morning!

On a hen weekend in Nottingham and money wise it's all going to plan, brought cash with me, and haven't gone wild on my card. Also brought booze with me so that's saved money.

Today will be a nsd today hopefully, having breakfast and a swim when all the girls get up and then travelling home.

Looking forward to this week in fact, weather looks promising and I'd like to see how many nsd's I can achieve and take the children to all the lovely local parks.

    Have a happy Sunday everyone

    Seventh Anniversary
Hi all, well I'm still looking for my 6th NSD.. Maybe today...
Yesterday we had friends round, to be fair they said they were just coming for coffee, but before now we would have laid on a full spread...yesterday we bought some extra cheese and a tub of grapes to top up selection we already had, dug out a box of crackers we've had for months and bought a fresh baguette.. With a pot of nice coffee we spent a really nice couple of hours with friends we probably haven't seen this year..
Later on husband and I went to A's to get some extra cat stuff, trying to build him up abit still.... So I spent about £3.50.. Mainly on stuff for today... Which leads to....
Today-going to daughters house for an afternoon being granny. I take ingredients for a nice lunch for K and I, also for the little one and make it for us while I'm there, started when he was much smaller but it's something I enjoy...
While I'm there K's dying my hair for me, I've got the stuff, just need to remember to put it in the bag, feeling really dowdy, old and grey at the minute so I need brightening up!
Rounding downs don't transferring pennies to savings account later, any other left will probably stay in account for a few sneaky last euros...depending on how many there are...
    Have a great Sunday everyone!!
  • Morning everyone
Can I put my hand up Dawn and say yes to difficult family members-I've got a few:eek:.
Took it easy this morning as I built the bedside cabinet yesterday(always get a certain sense of satisfaction) but boy was I in pain last night and this morning:(.
Usual cat cleaning done, not so thorough but done and DD has tootled off to the boyfriends for the week plus a tour round new uni on Tues. Arranged breakdown cover for her this morning, did it through a cashback site so will get £35 back:j.
Plan to continue to plan operation back bedroom today and where to put things back-but slower than planned.
    Hoping to visit friends later.
Better go, the little not so new caped crusader kitten is busy pulling hospital stuff off the fridge and is currently happily trashing it:eek:!
Have a great Sunday everyone x

    Afternoon all,

This weekend hasn't been too spendy though I did stock up on soft drinks and snacks for DS to take to Reading to keep in the tent so he doesn't have to pay the extortionate on-site prices all the time.

I took the dish I throw all his small change into with me and fed it into the self service machine and it came to exactly £3, what are the chances?

I was out last night but took a couple of bottles of spiced tomato juice from the free table and all the trappings for Bloody Mary's which I already had. I did buy breakfast this morning but it was in spoons and I only had scrambled egg on toast.

Today I have been on an eBay listing mission and now have 33 active listings :T These include some big ticket items while they have the £1 cap on FVFs.

Tonight I am at bingo with my mum, Hopefully we will win and break even, we usually do.

I have a bit of a glut of cherry tomatoes so am going to freeze some to use at a later date. Auby has another aubergine ready for picking and a couple of smaller ones plus a couple of new flower buds.

After bad mouthing the aubergines one has about seven buds forming so I'll hang on in there and see what happens with these, they did have powdery mildew but I cut off all the affected leaves and it seems to have thwarted it so they may be okay. Are they supposed to be upright plants though? Mine were kind of crawling along the floor so I lifted them onto the decking and now they are trailing?

    Afternoon all :)
When I have grown aubergines FVD, they have been upright, but they sometimes need a cane support to keep them that way :)

I had 2 great finds today, at one of the car boot sales I trawled this morning I found a Magimix Le Micro food processor in its box with all the accessories for £5. It is always tricky buying electrical items from these places, because they might not work, but it looked fine, and when I tried it, it worked perfectly :) They are over £50 to buy new. I have a large Magimix which is great for serious cooking, but this one will be handy just to chop a few herbs, or whip up a quick sauce. I wouldn't have bought a new one, but am very happy to have one for only £5 :D

My second find was a 1970s hostess trolley from freecycle, which I am in the process of cleaning. It works fine, but has a few marks and has been spattered with white paint, which seems to be cleaning off ok. OH hates it, but I love it, and it will be so handy when we have a houseful to feed! It has all its bits, but I see that you can buy replacement parts on ebay if needed in future :)

Apart from getting two absolute bargains, I have / will:
    Walked dog for free exercise
Bought a few bits to sell on :)
Small shop at Lidl - they didn't have any of their sugar free muesli though :( I will have to look again later in the week, as it is half the price of the Alpen one, and twice as nice! I don't like sugary cereal, and there are surprisingly few which come unsweetened.
Cleaned the car boot items I bought for resale :)
Need to finish cleaning the hostess trolley :)
    Check for surveys
It will be jacket potatoes and salad with smoked mackerel for dinner :)

Early night I think as I am shattered.

    Nothing in my book :D

Chuffed with my money saving efforts today :D We went to Dreamland as discovered a card we have allows a carer free so saving £19 :T but when we got there the offers is "carers" go free so neither oh or I paid. We just paid for madam's entrance and saved £38 :j So we've discovered the first *perk* of being a kinship carer :rotfl:

As we paid less than we had thought we treated ourselves to a pint and a packet of crisps while we played board games on the harbour and then later had an ice cream each :p

we were planning to meet up with my bff and godson at a pub on the beach, but the timing didn't work out. So instead of getting fish & chips - I sooooooo wanted them! - I suggested a picnic tea and picked up a can of chickpeas & made hummus. Everything else was from stores :money:

went to the allotment first thing and took out frustrations & worries for a couple of hours digging up a couple of beds and getting rid of weeds. Brought home a couple cucumbers, a courgette and a butternut squash :)

did a load of washing & hung out. Remembered to get it in as well :A :rotfl:

Managed to get the kitchen spic and span in 15 minutes including getting the washing in - I LOVE it when I'm super efficient :A

That's about it. First day of our proper *staycation* (we have 4 days where we're both off together with madam, oh has to go to work Tuesday, and I go back to work on Thurs). We decided on a budget of £140 for the week, which is what we would have spent on a ferry crossing if we went ahead with camping in France with the outlaws as originally planned.

    Anyway.... Nice finds Dawn :D

Sorry, Dawn, that was my mistake, it's the courgettes that are creeping along the floor, not the aubergine. Are courgettes meant to do that? The stem is thick and strong so they haven't flopped, they just both seem to want to grow sideways instead of upwards? (Auby is upright but I put in canes to attach! each stem as I was worried they'd snap under the weight!)

Well done on the freebie hostess trolley, very 70s!

I now have 38 things listed on the bay of e though some have random pictures, I will take proper pictures when I can but wanted to get things listed before the deal finishes :D
