I put a bit if chopped onion in mine but I think I might try it with cucumber.
I just wanted to say that I think you are doing great just spending approx £10.00 a week. My freezers are full but I can't manage it due to two people who are addicted to chocolate and biscuits!
I'd second the Aldi loose bananas. Some of them are huge. If you're buying that many it might be cost effective.

Hi Toni'sfriend, thanks for popping by. I'm only managing it due to OH being away, he eats so much, our will atleast double. We bit biscuits on aldi, bourbons are super cheap!

List of must dos for the next 3-4 days:
    Make jam
    Wash floor
    Clean toilets
    Pick apples
    Tidy kitchen
    Do all washing
    Go shopping
    eBay 20 more things
    Post eBay things

That's enough to be going on with! I have been thinking about my shopping list and have changed a couple of things. Have decided to keep any money left over in a pot for the times when I need coffee or something that is expensive.

    So Next week
    Biscuits 24p
    Biscuits 32p
    Porridge 75p
    Bread 70p
    Milk 200
    Bananas 182p
    Pasta 29p
    Marg 69p
    Chick peas 33p
    Sugar 55p
    £7.69

If I can buy big bananas I will only buy half as many saving me 60p with which I will buy some necterines, but we shall see!

Pleased with how it all seems to be going.

Looks like a plan to me.I'm impressed with how much cooking you do when you are on your own with the children.

Mine love couscous, noodles and pasta and I am guilty of reverting to those too often when OH is away

These are one of my favourites. Trying to wean the other two off chocolate biscuits and on to the traditional and cheaper ones of my childhood. Rich tea, digestives, lemon puffs and the ultimate jammie dodger (possibly the best biscuit in the world!).
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
