But don't dismiss other people as daft for buying a £600 phone because they see value where you don't.
So, come on justify £869 for the new Samsung Note 8?
    Surely that IS 'daft'!!?

Yes daft for the person who complains about the price of it then buys it.

People don't equate everything in the world to a price when getting value from something.

I don't get it, you'll have to explain.

That maybe true, but I don't think it applies to a phone, a nice picture or a view maybe.

People see value when others don't its really not that hard to understand. People are individuals and have different desires and needs and will do things that others will not see the same benefit from.

I have already listed reasons for you and others have too and here are a few other reasons.

    1. Brand loyalty
    2. Fashion
    3. Tech features
    4. Mobile contract renewal (same price latest phone)

I can come up with a list too:

    Vanity
    Easily led
    Shopaholic
    Keeping up with the Jones
    More money than sense

You're only seeing from your own viewpoint.

What's worse? someone on JSA buying a £200 phone or someone earning £2000 a month buying a £800 phone?

There's no one size fits all, no matter how much your personal bias tries to see it that way...

Well as I said people see value differently. I think you need to take a step back from going down the path of judging others on what they do with their lives. You may feel entitled to voice your disapproval on what others do with their money but If I told someone to their face that the reason they bought an expensive phone was one or all of the above 5 things then I would not come off as a nice person to say the least.

By all means if someone is looking to save money or looking for a certain feature or simplicity in their phone choice then give them clear helpful advice. But until that day happens try and do less of the looking and judging people in a negative light for the free choices they make.

People are free to spend their money how they like, provided their immediate dependent family do not suffer. There will be a few, and I mean a few who will need what those phones offer. I guess my comments are aimed at those who see it as a must have accessory. I'm beginning to suspect it's not in your interest to question spending so much on a phone, that is also a bias...

If someone wants to spend all their money on a phone and let their children starve then they will be charged with child neglect and go to prison but they won't got to prison for spending too much money on a phone.

So until a law is broken then keep on buying those phones 💷💷💷💷
