Yes you did, but you still haven't explained why you appear to refuse to say paying £600 for a phone is a daft idea, I can only assume you think it's fine.

I don't pass judgement on whether other people can or want to pay £600 for a phone (as long as they can afford it), that's their personal choice and I won't condemn it.

Just like a person spending £50 on a bottle of wine, £600 on a handbag, £1k on a digital camera, £3k on a TV or £50k on a car...

If they have the money and the ability to pay for the item then good for them.

But does a £600 phone represent good value, whether someone can afford it is up to them, I was asking you as you have defended it but the only reason given was volte. If I raise the £150 i suggested to £200 so I can have active volte, it still begs the question, why pay £600? Come on, with your phone knowledge, you must be able to come up with a better reason than volte?

There are more reasons that just volte, additional coverage, better after sales, better build quality etc, but none of that matters, just like with the person who buys a Mercedes instead of a Hyundai.

It's all personal choice and ultimately if a person wants to buy a Galaxy s8 and can afford it, then that's their personal choice.

People can buy a £600 phone for many different reasons what is important is you buy what you want and stop worrying or judging others for what they buy.

I have a iPhone 6s which cost me £550 I love it for the following reasons...

    1. Screen size.
    2. Camera.
    3. Operating system.
    4. Speed.
    5. Touch ID.
    6. Apple support.
    7. Seemless connection between phone, ipad, mac.

    The list is endless.....

But anyway the fact is you don't require an expensive phone so my above list should not make any difference to you and nor should it. It's great that you get value from a less expensive phone and means your own money can be spent on others things you get value from.

But don't dismiss other people as daft for buying a £600 phone because they see value where you don't.

Not sure about after sales, CPW would treat you badly however much you spent. As for build quality, sometimes it feels like every other iPhone has a broken screen, but they do look nice.

I certainly agree with a lot of you have said, but there are many people, I've seen them at work, who I know haven't got much, and yet turn up with the latest phone. I know everyone has to make a living but I feel sorry for those that don't seem to know there are alternatives. In many cases I have shown them good deals but you cant help everyone, certainly not nice to say to someone that you could have got it way cheaper.

The telecoms industry I think is one of the worst for ripping people off, and seemingly happy with their exploits, makes 2nd hand cars salesman and estate agents look honest..

No, as I've already posted (in some depth) it's a passport that opens up additional coverage via extra spectrum on a newer frequency now in use.

I've never had a broken iPhone screen and have been buying them since the original iPhone.

I would agree about CPW though...

Must be one of the lucky ones or have it in a case instead of showing it off.

Is it not the case that EE and 3 are just filling old holes in the network with 800mhz to improve their poor building signal penetration, because they generally use higher frequencies, often where O2 were better. So Volte is just really giving customers the signal EE have claimed they had but don't.

Not really, while I don't abuse my phones I only use the really thin 0.3mm type cases, they only really protect from scratches.

As someone who has been involved in a phone repair centre I would say we took in far more Android phones (mainly Samsung and Sony iirc) then iPhone for damaged screens.

No, not really. It's capable of better building penetration and also travels much further in rural areas so it's creating quite rapid expansion. It's quite strange to see strong Three 4G in out of the way rural places, but it's happening.

EE are doing similar as they require extensive coverage for the ESN network that it is currently rolling out.

This is Three 1800MHz 4G (slightly out of date, iirc it's from November 2016).

This is the Three 4G network when 800MHz is included (also Nov 2016).

Maybe they couldn't afford the Apple repair bill ;-)

Quite a shocking difference, you wonder how they ever claimed 97 or 98% coverage.
