As far as I can gather you're withholding £140 in fees, charges that you have incurred, because Ebay suspended your account on a verification issue.
If you genuinely can't afford to pay or believe you haven't incurred the fees then I have misunderstood..0 -

That's like saying your bank account is at risk if you don't pay your gas bill, having used said bank account to pay previous gas bills.
If you don't owe Paypal anything, they will have little care about your disputes with other organisations.
Bank and gas bills have no relation. Ebay and Paypal do.
So set your example as you have 2 accounts at the same bank and overdrawn on one account and refuse to pay. Can the bank take the money from the other account? Possibly able to offset it against your account thats in credit.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Ebay and Paypal parted company some time ago.0 -

They may well be operating as a separate company but they are intertwined. If you have ever used Ebay's resolution system you will know that a hold on your Paypal money can be made with a few clicks from the Ebay buyer. Likewise, if you refund through Paypal then you find an Ebay dashboard defect.
To make the comparison you made is just silly. They are connected, they work together and they still share information.0 -

As per theonlywayisup, my recent INR claim immediately put a hold on the money in paypal .
I don't think it is scaremongering at all to warn the buyer that this is a possibility, no one here is guaranteeing what is going to happen, but any business seller needs to be aware of all the possibilities.
OP is already facing an issue with losing a large online market place for sales, I don't know whether they have other outlets for selling that are as good. The debt is actually quite small and for services he has already used, I still think this is something that might be worth trying to sort out rather than just throwing their toys out of the pram.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Given you're now off ebay, there's nothing to be lost by telling us what digital goods you were selling.
Your lack of openness could lead to people thinking that it's hooky copies of MS Office or similar.0 -
Ebay and Paypal may have separated into separate businesses but don't think for one minute they aren't still linked. You can kiss bye bye to your Paypal account once this catches up to you.
Businesses rely heavily on Paypal now even outside of Ebay so think carefully before bumping them for a pittance.0 -
Purely from personal experience a few years back, I would strongly advise NOT letting this debt get passed on - my ex thought he was being clever & did pretty much the same thing on our eBay account (my name etc) - I then moved back home & they still managed to find me after I'd moved!
Just pay it. Honestly they won't give up & you'll end up paying it & some more!0 -
A friend also decided to 'avoid' paying...guess who failed the credit check for a mobile phone contract...0
