1 in a 100 sales is very small, and this was errors made from the buyer. (i.e buying something not compatible yet demanding a refund)

From your experince, bearing inmind there are 2 payemnts to be made, one of £55 and £88 I believe, what are the chance of me ignoring them and then them taking me to court? I assume, as they are 2 seperate accounts, the debt collection will make demands for each of the sum rather than the combined total?

Is there any final warning/letter I can be made aware that any court iniation process is imminent and will happen. If it gets to that stage I would rather pay before getting into a court mess and potential pay even more. Am I correct in thinking that if a court procedure is made, I can pay before the court notice, essenitally avoiding the potential court fees?

There is no final warning, everybody's experience with ebay debt collection is different. No one here can guarantee that you won't end up with a court case, most of us have said t is unlikely - and that's the best you are going to get.

If a court claim does come through, am I given a notice to pay the inital charges before any court procedeeings take place? To avoid the chances of having an increased debt to pay.
  • This thread is just a load of nonsense.

You broke the rules. Digital products are not allowed to be sold on Ebay. Ebay didn't like your 'business model' and kicked you out.

You owe the fee's, so pay them.

If you are issued with court papers, the debt owed will increase immediately. You will be liable for all costs, including the charge to issue the papers.

The fact that you think this is 'revenge' by not paying the fees is simply laughable and says a lot more about you than Ebay.

    Give it up. No-one cares.

You're clearly talking from your !!!.
You are allowed to sell digital products on eBay. I have my reasons for what I am doing. There are many other posts like this, and everyone asks for there own reason.

I didn't break any policys to my knowledge as eBay doesnt even want to tell me what I have done. If nobdoy cares do me a favour and rid yourself from any posts relating to debts. This forum exists for a reason and I asked a genuine question. See yourself out if you are not happy.

I also think your PayPal account might be at risk further down the line, especially as has been stated above , you used your account to pay your fees.

    No, it won't.

That's like saying your bank account is at risk if you don't pay your gas bill, having used said bank account to pay previous gas bills.

If you don't owe Paypal anything, they will have little care about your disputes with other organisations.
  • Ooh...touchy.

You clearly didn't follow the guidelines for selling Digital products and Ebay don't want you selling on their site. Its immaterial if you believe you followed the rules, because obviously you didn't.

Now you have thrown your toys out of your pram and believe that by withholding fee's, you are teaching Ebay a lesson.

Go back to stroking your white cat.

I've said it once and I will repeat it just for you. No-one cares.

Ohh looks like you admitted you where talking trash.
Not touchy at all, saying it how it is. You come to a forum about debt to slate about why I should pay my debt.... thats not really the purpose of this section.

I asked for what term I broken and they haven't told me. Never once where my listings removed or had any warnings, so to me it appears I've done nothing wrong. eBay even contacted me to congratulate me on becoming a top rated seller.

And no, I'm not teaching eBay a lesson, I think you fail to understand why I am asking to avoid these fees. The exact same reason why any disputes anywhere even exists. Everyone does actions accordingly for a reason, and I have mine. If you don't agree with me, well I couldn't care less to be honest. You're some random person typing to a thread that nobody cares about apparently when I have received numerous, genuine response from helpful users. If you have nothing to say then why comment.

Your contribution to this post is 0, so I am essentially wasting your time for which I am grateful. Please continue to reply to me and I will happily entertain you as quite clearly you have nothing else better to do, other than to sit in and slate people in a section made for debt related questions :T

No one needs to get personal.

Joe, what items were you selling - I ask because it does look like a policy issue. If it's something that can be "sorted" it may mean you have your account back and can continue selling.

Even though there are no proper ties now between ebay and paypal they do seem to still mirror each other with certain things, and people have been restricted from paypal when faced with ebay problems and vice versa. I certainly think it is something worth considering especially with digital goods which paypal are never particularly happy with re seller and buyer protection.

Also, if you look over on the banking board banks now are very risk adverse, as is paypal, having companies trying to collect cancelled Direct debits does sometimes seem to trigger something that means a bank investigates, and asks for information about business practices, which is exactly what the OP was unwilling to do with ebay. However, whilst this is an ulikely scenario- I think it worth the OP considering it when deciding whether the debt should be paid or not.

A bank and gas bill isn't on a parallel to eBay and Paypal. Sadly.
