The fact it shows FTTP on Demand means the checker knows you're connected to a fibre cabinet.

There's either, a records issue, or, you're line is too long from the cab to benefit from VDSL.

I just rang TalkTalk and they told me on the phone I could get fibre.

    Minimum speed 30Mb

Although I do wonder that the sales just would say anything to sign me up.

I foolishly signed up. Will have to see what happens

    Well got an email today.

Looked at the price, that's odd, a lot cheaper than I was expecting.

Look more closely, it's for broadband (not fibre) with minimum speed of 1Mbps.

So I phoned up and cancelled that!

Not impressed with their phone operators.

Seam to be people in another country working at home with kids screaming in the background. Difficult to fully understand them

A couple of providers state that we can't get fibre as the cabinet is fully subscribed, but an official check shows that though our exchange has been enabled for 2 years, there is no provision on this estate (not surprised as the cabinet, which can be seen from our window, is an old small one), though all areas surrounding us are enabled.

A few years ago, I tried to book Tesco's ADSL and was told that as they had used most of their quota, we could only have phone or broadband. Two weeks later, after signing with Sky ,Tesco had availability of both services, followed by a long term with none at all...then they ceased provision, anyway. (So availability seems to come and go, once it is possible to enable your premises.)

I've been checking every couple of months and it's not been good.

Got 3? months left on my VM contract, so will have to stay rather than use the price rise excuse.

I guess I will wait for one of Martins offers, and although it pains me, possible go with BT as they might have a bit more weight to resolve it.

What message does the Openreach when and where checker return?

Use your postcode on the below site and select your address. It will tell you what cabinet you're on and will generate a message advising if you can order or not.

    my address

    Exchange status: Fibre enabled
    Cabinet number: 137
    Technology: -

Your cabinet is enabled for Superfast fibre however you're not able to order fibre just yet.
This might be because the length of the line is too long to get Superfast speeds. We're actively looking at other options.

Where as a neighbor on the same cab states:
    Exchange status: Fibre enabled
    Cabinet number: 137
    Technology: FTTC

Great news, Superfast fibre is in your area.
    and you can order today

    How close is your neighbour?

When was the last time you had an active Openreach owned line?

That message for your address is the default message that's displayed when there is some data missing, such as which distribution point your property is served by.

Neighbour is close, (i'm closer to the cab!)

I last had an active ASDL line with Sky just over a year ago, at which time I COULD ORDER FIBRE with TalkTalk or SSE (as I came very close)
but found a sensibly priced VM package instead, with a known good connection.
