Fibre Available But Sold Out

How is this even possible for a service? Sky said it was available and are now saying it isn't...

Every port on your local cabinet is already in use. Sky wouldn't have known until they came to book the install and it is outside their control. OR may fit a bigger or additional cabinet but there is no guarantee when or even if.0

Keep checking. Tge cab may just require an additional line card installed.0

I have a fibre cab in my area.
A year ago fibre was available when I nearly signed up to TT or SSE(phew!) @£21/month (I had BB with Sky at the time)
Now when I select fibre with various sites they can only offer me broadband, after entering my postcode. I was assuming this was because my cab was full. But this appears different to your findings?
I would be interested to understand the issue, what with the VM price rises.
P.S been checking over a long period and it been the same for months0 -
If you have a BT phone line, use the number checker here https://www.dslchecker.bt.com
Otherwise, use the address checker (NOT the postcode check).
If it shows "available" next to VDSL, then you can order fibre to the cab. If it says "waiting list" then you'll need to wait for someone to cancel or nore ports to be added. Either via an additional line card, or a second fibre cabinet.0 -
Just tried and JL and TT broadband sites.
Interestingly, if I choose a neighbours house number, I can get Fibre, but not mine!
So hopefully some kind of database error.
Just wish I could phone them up and get it sorted, before actually putting in an order.0 -
Can you use the DSL checker from above abd post a screenshot of the result?0

Quite possibly because your neighbour's line is connected to a different cabinet.
Lack of fibre capacity on street cabinets is increasingly common as FTTC take up has increased in enabled areas. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Openreach estimate about 2% of all cabinets are out of capacity at any one time. So it's not that common.
Most of which only neeed extra line cards/tie pairs.
Around 0.5% need additonal fibre cabinets or the existing fibre cabinet expanded.0 -
Any chance you could post a larger image?:eek:0
