I recently asked Kantar about diaries........
Sadly they've taken the business decision not to provide diaries this year 😥
I also asked what will happen when my stint ends in a few months time and I was told I would be rested and invited back around 5-6mnths into my rest period! 🤔

    Temporary changes to RFIDs

We have been monitoring the Royal Mail strike situation carefully over the past few weeks.
From this monitoring we have been able to understand the impact of the strikes and provide that insight back to Royal Mail for its regulators and we want to say thank you for being part of this.

We have also been monitoring the time it takes for you to receive your posting packs and your RFID stock levels, and the impact the strikes are having on them.
A number of panellist have already been in contact with us due to not having enough RFIDs to post with items, or receiving a posting pack later than expected.

Royal Mail are expected to be very busy between now and the end of the year, with more strikes currently scheduled for December.

Therefore, we have made a decision which will impact the items you send over the next few weeks, please see the information below.

    • For items you have scheduled to send on

Week Commencing 19th Week Commencing 19th and 26th December 2022, you do not need to include a RFID in these items.

    • When preparing an item for these weeks, you should select ‘None’ when selecting a RFID.
    • If you have already prepared an item to be sent on this week with a RFID, please send this as normal.
    • Please retain your RFID stock as you will be using RFIDs again from 2nd January 2023.

This is a short term change to this requirement. RFIDs, and the data from them, remain an integral part of the survey.

    Thank you for your understanding.
Is this just items originally due to go out next week? I have a backlog of items that haven't been sent due to lack of RFID.
IMO I would do that for anything you're intending to send during the w/c 19/12 and w/c 26/12 window they mentioned. If items already have an RFID then leave it in there BUT if you're waiting for RFIDs in order to send an item then just send without one like they say even if it was scheduled before those weeks.
If you're in any doubt just call or msg them to see what they say.
  • What are peoples thoughts about removing the RFIDs at this time?
The cynical part of me thinks by removing the RFIDs from the system they can fudge the data and refer to it as less accurate when the stats show how abysmal the service became during this period!😳
I wouldve thought this is absolutely the time to be monitoring the journey of mail items with a fine tooth comb!!

I can see their point. Diaries are only useful when they arrive in a timely manner. I'd generally given up and bought one by the time theirs arrived.
Bet Spectos won't be doing mini eggs either. Now those I will miss.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Just got a correctly unaddressed delivered mail survey starting 2 Jan. Kantar don’t seem to be able to decide what they’ve invited me to, but I think it is unaddressed mail… If so, I seem to have been on that permanently since September.

I'm permanently on the unaddressed mail as well. I am presuming it's because I rarely get any of the expected items.

I have never had a UA request.

I was expecting that - because they won't be contracted for the service for most of 2023.elsien said:

I previously found they arrived reasonably well before year end and simply kept a note of future appointments to enter once I had the diary.  It was different for 2022 - I had given up before the Kantar one arrived.

As I didn't expect one for 2023 I asked for a pocket diary as a Christmas present from someone who kept asking what I wanted for Christmas.  I know he's got one for me so I'm actually pleased I won't get one from Kantar which would be wasted.

I had plenty when I was on the panel the first time round - 4 or 5 years back.  I left and came back and in the couple of years I've been back - I've not seen it once.  I guess they must vary by area.
I need to think of something new here...

I'm not quite as cynical but do think including RFIDs would provide a more accurate picture of where delays are due to the strikes.

However, I guess they are really interested in where delays are under normal conditions.
