I think it might be reading the new QR/bar coded stamps like we do with parcels 🤔
This will be to check for some special info as part of a pilot for future use to see what info they can embed there 😉1 -
My goodness, don't they think most peoples ' lives are quite complicated enough at the moment trying to process the everyday hazards or price & energy inflation and other anxieties without them wanting to process promotional messages on bar coded postage stamps. Very bad timing for this introduction if you ask me. They first need to concentrate to getting their basic service efficiencies restored to pre Covid levels!3

Thank you so much for your help1 -
Just received a test letter with a post it note stuck to the front, crypic code of 2/4 AM PB but I think we can all crack that.Post It is a bright pink arrow so I'm not sure how they forgot to take it off before posting!Edit: On logging it the envelope they've used turns out to be wrong, they used a small white when it should have been a medium.3

They sold within 5 minutes of listing.
I've been assuming that the eBay price for "old" red NVI was going to drop so I've decided to swap mine for new barcoded ones and then sell those. But thinking again... if the general public isn't that aware of the barcodes and possibility of not using them before they are invalidated then you may well have made the better choice.
The other thought that occurred to me was that it isn't clear if I will get booklets back or sheets. If the former - I'll sell them in the summer. If the latter, well - I could sell a half/full sheet (25 or 50) on eBay but will I get a better price? I might end up having to slowly use the loose ones as I sell future booklets acquired from the next cycle.I need to think of something new here...1
