I will be sending in my excess Large 1st booklets later this month to see how fast the turnround is.I need to think of something new here...1 -
We have loads of stamps to exchange, but if the flood of people trying to clock up their fuel meter readings yesterday with the power suppliers was anything to go by, crashing the systems, I suspect waiting a white for the initial rush to die down, may e a wise move, unless you have surplus stamps you can use up in the immediate future.2

I'm going to swap my surplus red Large 1st because I know I won't use them all. Normally, I sell them on eBay but I'm guessing that the price/demand will now drop off so I'm planning to Swap Out at the end of this cycle and then sell the new barcoded booklets.
The people who are affected are:
1) Moneysavers who stocked up before a price rise and have more than they can use by January. So they're all reading it here anyway.
2) eBayers, small businesses and charities who have stocked up. They will be working out if they can use up in time or when should they swap. Primrose has a point - if they decide to Swap early and there's a slow turnround; they may end up having to go out and buy more to make the next dispatch. So maybe sending half now and half later will be best.
3) Collectors and Dealers who may well have lots of old stock that they are using for postage because it doesn't have many buyers. They are going to have loads of odd values - which according to the T&C of this scheme will be rounded up and replaced with 2nd class NVI. Which they may then have an excess of...
I agree it may well get more publicity at the end of the year in the same way as a banknote being replaced and people being reminded to check in drawers and back of purses for any that have been lying around.I need to think of something new here...1 -
I have an ebay business so these stamps are worth their face value to me. So the monthly stamp packs are worth £15.36) at current prices. Not sure why people are doing surveys if they have a surplus of stamps.Anyway. I have decided to use up my commemorative stamps, I have 3 books and my justifiication are:1) they will never be antique and my descendants will never feature in antiques roadshow holding my book of stamps (my great grandfather earned these form doing royal mail surveys).2) They will be worthless as stamps sooner or later.3) I have no sentimental attachment to these stamps, I have a star wars pack and rolling stones pack, fans might go crazy for them but I dont think I will sell these more for face value - even on ebay after my postage costs and ebay costs I might end up with half of the value of the stamps in my pocket.0

The value in collectible stamps is rarity - or in those postally used in unusual circumstances. You're right... these will never be antiques unless you have a complete run of something in all it's variations and then there will be a limited number of collectors interested even if your descendants are selling them in 2097 or so.I need to think of something new here...0 -
Sorry if this has been asked/answered- is there any limit to how many times you send in your stamps per person? Eg if I was to send half now and half later on?
Thank you so much for your help1 -
@NBLondon i sold my presentation packs, largely because I don't need the stamps themselves really, I don't collect stamps or anything related to the packs so far, I have enough stamps from normal posting activities such that a bit of currency even below market value is welcomed.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
