Exactly!
I know his mobile phone bill this month was £90, plus about £40 a week on petrol
Then beer and tobacco, he hasn't bought any clothes or been out anywhere
Yes on pay day he transfers his half of bills and food into my Halifax account. This account is just in my name and he doesn't have any access to it0 -
Husband has just text me:
"Can you pop £20 into my account please"
I replied saying no sorry I send all my money to the credit card
Then he replied saying "you must be able to lend me it please"
I just said sorry I don't have it
Now, I feel I bit miserly saying no as its not as if he asked me for £200.
But on the other hand if I don't say no he'll soon ask again for more.
Now Im worrying if he doesn't even have £20 how is going to buy petrol to get to work??0 -
If he doesn't face consequences from his overspending, he doesn't seem likely to learn to stop it.Mortgage started at £318,000 in June 2016. Original MF - 2041
2nd Property Mortgage at £275,000. Mortgage free: 2049
Total OPs: £295290 -
I know how you feel, I bail my hubby out quite a bit but like Tropically says, they don't learn their lesson like that...
Why is his mobile £90, is there any way he can reduce that in future?0 -
If you continue to bail him out he will never learn. Tough love. Tell him he is not even trying if he is spending out on beer tobacco and £90 mobile bills. He is not a child, he is an adult and adults have to be responsible. You seem to be the only responsible one in this relationship.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Haven’t heard from him since and he hasn’t come home yet from work, he finishes at 4:30 and it’s now almost 10:30
Not even a text to say I’ll be back late
Blooming glad I didn’t give him any money now!0 -

Three guesses why he wanted the £20 then? Inconsiderate too. Hope you hadn't cooked a meal for him.
If he doesn't even have £20 and does not get paid until 25th November that is still 10 days that he needs to cover. He sounds like he needs to get a grip on his spending.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. There's £18 in the bills/food account to last until Monday
Will just need to do a small top up shop of milk and bread
Husband will obviously ask me to buy him some beers out of it
Of course I've got plenty left in my own spends account but why should I pay for him to drink and smoke?0 -

I would not get them for him. He needs to learn to manage his money better and he won't do that while he has you to prop him up. Beer and cigarettes are not essentials but food is. Might be a good idea to remind him he still owes you for Christmas presents.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I'm getting his present money on Monday when he gets paid apparently :rotfl:
I might just say there's no money left, he cant spend what isn't there.
I am going to be SO annoyed next week if I've got to pay for all the presents0
