    Thanks ES

His side of the family is:

    His mum, £35
    Nephew 1, £15
    Nephew 2, £15
    Niece, £15

So that only adds up to £80, plus what if he doesn't get them anything?

With the £100 for his half of your sons presents though it would come to about £175. Would he really not buy anything for them?

If you think there is a strong possibility he would not get them anything I would buy them and just nag him until he pays up. So annoying though and the downside of not having joint accounts. The upside though is most of the year you are managing to save more by him not dipping into your money.

My evil brain though if he does not pay up would insist on a monthly standing order from January from his account to yours to budget for next Christmas and repay you for this one. Say as he cannot be trusted to pay his debts he will need to repay you monthly.

Hope he doesn't ask you and if he does, say you're skint too...

Do you have a jar of coins at home, I tell my hubby to help himself to that when he's spent his money at the pubs!

Yeah I use my card and not cash mostly but I get the coins from hubby's pockets and save them for him to use when he's broke :)

Make sure you get the christmas money from hubby as soon as he gets paid, before it gets spent...

I'll be asking for the present money as soon as his pay day arrives, if I haven't received it after a few days I'll assume he wont be contributing
  • So he has run out of money but hasn't contributed to Xmas presents? What has he been spending on? Tell him, quite honestly that you are paying off a credit card and have bought Xmas presents no nothing left. Does he pay to a joint account for bills and food?
