Ah it might naturally be on its way out due to age. Do you know what fault is?

Hi Aesop, no error messages, just a black screen, hopefully have another look today
I'd be very interested to know what you discover. Good Luck:beer:. It might not be the same problem as my old laptop but that one suddenly died too.. It was working perfectly one morning and when I tried to boot it up later nothing whatsoever happened. It wouldn't even work when plugged into a socket and the green light was on the adaptor/transformer thingy (you can tell I'm a real techy can't you:rotfl:) so there was power getting to that but the laptop was as dead as a dodo. The power light on the actual laptop wasn't lit up though so I was baffled.
It was pretty old and secondhand when I bought it so it didn't owe me anything moneywise but it was a pain as I had no way of retrieving files etc stored on there. Or is there a way???? I haven't a clue:o. . I didn't feel it was worth the expense of investigation and repair when I was quoted a ridiculous price  so I bought a cheap new one just to get online again and so far it's served me very well. Much faster than the other one:j. I'd still like to get back stuff from the old one that I didn't want to lose though.
Any advice will be most welcome:beer:0 -
I hope you had a restful sleep, Aesop:T. I never have any problem sleeping (apart from when I have toothache of course;)) and could sleep on a washing line as the old Irish saying goes:rotfl:. It's been a blessing and I feel truly sorry for insomniacs. I know insomnia isn't your problem but the end result of sleep-deprivation is the same. Needless to say I slept like a log last night after my toothache was gone :j and would probably still be snoozing now:o if the cat hadn't come bouncing in and jumped on me as I slept. He must have wondered why his breakfast was so late today, he's usually tucking in to it by 6.15:rotfl:0
