So I'm back from holiday, and determined to start my challenge to get debt-free!

I've registered for a ton of things tonight, and have 100+ DVD's which I will attempt to sell tomorrow. MusicMagpie appears to be the best price, but at between 10p-20p per DVD, I'll be lucky to get £10-15 from them. I may try sticking them on Facebook/Ebay first for 30p each and see if I can't double the amount that MM are offering.

My £100 for August starts tomorrow. Looks difficult, but I'll give it a shot!

I never really found people used eBay for DVDs and so the couple I had that are actually brand new in the packaging don't sell on there. I am going to use Amazon instead as I think there will be a higher online footfall (and I did manage to sell through there all be it about 10 years ago!).

I too tried to sell dvds on ebay even for just £1 and they didn't sell. Even charity shops are struggling I think, amazon definitely worth a go though.

    #4 Prolific Academic

One of my favourite survey sites, although I don't do enough of the surveys at the moment.

If you want to sign up, please use a referral from this board and don't forget to leave your own.

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5267356

    What is Prolific Academic?

It is a site created to help University academics complete their thesis/degrees etc by finding them people willing to complete their questionnaires for payment.
Most questionnaires are short and pay well. Some of the questionnaires are interesting and definitely give you food for thought. Some are just plain weird! But hey if you are getting paid for it....

On Prolific, you get paid via PayPal or Circle.

After you complete your first study, you will need to wait until your submission is approved by the researcher (usually within 1-3 days, sometimes longer). This short waiting period is important to ensure quality control.

Our initial payment threshold is only £5 (with a fee). If you want to minimise fees, then wait until you have accumulated £20. By doing so you will avoid fees if you're in the UK/US by cashing out with circle. Below that amount, circle cash outs are charged 1% + 10p fee.

PayPal cash outs are charged PayPal's 2.9% + 20p fee.

To get paid, simply click on the "Get Paid"-button in your participant account. It usually takes less than 48 hours for your payment to be processed, but in times of high throughput it can take up to 5 days.

If your PayPal/Circle email address is different from the one you signed up with on Prolific, it will be no problem to enter the correct PayPal/Circle email in your participant account.

You don't always get notified of new surveys, they sometimes email you, but if you are near a pc/smartphone with free time, worth checking throughout the day.

    Some more information on it.

Just to add that Amazon fees are pretty high so you need to factor that in. Unlike on eBay there's no way of knowing what's already sold on Amazon so you can't get an idea of how popular the items are. At least on eBay you can check yours against 'Sold' items to see if there's any demand for them and the sort of price to expect.

I've had success selling DVDs on eBay in small job lots of anything from 2 to 6. I often sold CDs that way, in lots of about 4 to 6 at a time grouped by artist or genre. I'm thinking of doing that again actually with my music cassettes, Amazon only let you list media items individually so if you've a lot it can take forever:(. I found it best to list the ones on eBay in the normal CD/DVD category, not in the lesser-known and probably less visible Wholesale and Job Lots category which is more for big sellers with loads to sell in each lot.

Brand new and still packaged should do OK on Amazon, depending on popularity or rarity but check the cost of fees as they can be quite high:(.

Don't stress too much about making money, it falls into place by itself.

A lot of it is either things we have been doing for a while and falls to natural payouts or routine things we do.

Once you start doing a few sites, getting into a routine, it will get easier.

I agree with that 100%:T. I used to fret if I went a few days, a week even, at the start of a month without a penny received especially as others were posting brilliant results from day one:o. I know from experience now that it all evens itself out by the end of the month and it's very rare that I don't make my monthly target.

I've only just made my first money of August today and it's already day 4. £11.35 received from Ziffit:j. Still waiting for WBB:(.

Still not had the time to list anything on eBay as been having a nightmare time with Clearscore getting an error erased from my credit file. They are part of Equifax who supply/amend information and I've had several phone attempts to Equifax to get it sorted. Good job it's a Freephone number;). The links to the secure area of their website didn't work and all attempts to re-register just resulted in various error messages. There was never any response to requests for a password reset either. I think it's now sorted:think: but the helpful lady on the phone says they'll email me with full details about the outcome. I won't be holding my breath:eek:

Those of you doing the job spotter app on your phone, there is a new way to earn extra points on the app.

Next to your submisssion tab, is a verify tab. I used to do these just for fun, you verify other people's submissions.

Well today I went to take a look and you get paid for verifying!

You achieve points for each correct verification and you gain a trust level too.

    so definitely worth a go.
