  • The only reason I didn't go for that one is because I have an instant pot already, by the time my sign up vouchers arrived I had bought the Ninja

The plants recovered nicely and I did find long term homes.  The 23p for 3 small pots of cyclamen perked up for a good soak and are looking rather lovely in my splendid new dining room on a slate cheeseboard to go with all the grey wainscoting.

Mr Redo is working on the patio stone walls when the weather is good, and the front hall and porch when it is not.  The door to the porch is off for stripping at which point you appreciate what a good job it did of blocking noise and drafts. You could see sunshine through the gaps between the boards in the south facing baked in the sun all summer front door, but these have now been filled.  Both doors are a funny width and height so renovation before replacement is the only sensible option as they would have to be bespoke.  Hoping the many times painted door from the house to the porch will strip down to reasonable wood.

Not looking forward to the potential draft in my study tomorrow, but if it is really bad I will shift to the man cave.

Hope you're not freezing too much Redo. Completely agree about it being sensible to try to renovate what you have rather than looking at replacement, too - that makes sense on all levels doesn't it!

I think we have been quite lucky with the direction of the weather so I haven't been that cold.

@EssexHebridean . It's really very good, even with the plaster dust and much animal hair. Makes a change from jumpers I guess.

The entertainment of the day has been a new light fitting for the porch which came with a rubber sucker thing for taking old light bulbs out. This magically worked on the kitchen lights do we could put some new LED based ones in and I can finally see. ('I see the light!')
  • Hmm, it cuts half of that post out I think. Should say I accidentally bought a finned upright hoover for which I vaguely blame...

I feel like some sort of vacuum cleaner evangelist! 🤣🤣 I’m genuinely astonished by mine, still. When we first got our previous one I remember being quite impressed, but the finned beast is another level entirely. I’ve never been the best at actually remembering to vacuum in any way regularly - all the faff of getting the old one out, unwinding the cord, plugging it in, then it was big and heavy and the cord was constantly in the way and…. 🙄 The 🦈 I cheerfully just grab and throw round whenever it looks even slightly like it’s needed. Life changing, honestly! 😂
