I have been trying not to look at what's going up. However, the water bill mention reminds me that I need to check exactly what size replacement tap I need for the waterbutt where it has somehow got broken (presumably during one of the storms when I was away). The waterbutt is currently connected to a raised bed, so it'll be fine unless we get days on end of torrential rain. The bed appears to be pretty dry on the top level (must water it... with water butt water, not tap water obviously).

I wonder whether our payroll agency will comply with the request for propaganda on the payslips?

Redo - I'm unsure whether the idea of your cat learning to turn on the heating or the story about the bricks is making me giggle the most. both have cheered up a chilly grey morning, though!

Our Council tax has bizarrely stayed exactly the same - aside from the first month which always varies a bit from the rest of the payments. This is as a result of the council giving us their own little £55 rebate though - they were determined to say that their bit had been cut, although goodness knows how much this means it will increase again next year!

For perhaps the first time ever both of our tax returns will both generate a refund.  Predictably the service was crash and burning today, and you now have to wait three days for a refund.  Do they pay me interest?  Anyway, makes a change from paying back child benefit.

    spending:
    1. Light fittings for the dining room and kitchen - investment
    2. Rim latch (bathroom) and handles for the ground floor doors - investment
    3. Accidentally bought yet more wearables of the knitted variety *coughs* - needless fritter
    4. 40% off and free P&P on turtle doves - 2 pairs x lightweight fingerless gloves - also fritter

I had been admiring it for a while, and it was in the sale, and there was another £10 off if I bought two, and erm, I have run out of excuses.  Arrive tomorrow so I hope I like them.  I am much better at sending things back if they are not right.

I did his, not mine yet.  Refund!  Mine is waiting on work sorting P60s etc.  HMRC managed to split his tax code without being asked so full points to them.

Easter weekend will involve a skip and some plastering.  Hurrah!
