  • Just knowing that someone is coming in once a week to do a proper clean seems to make it easier to keep on top of day to day tasks
That's how I hope I will feel. Not keen on people in the house and hate people seeing the mess though so it isn't easy.

I've pretty much given up on ironing these days
I wish. School and work shirts have to be ironed even if I hang them from the TD. As do my formal work tops. OH and boys would go out looking like they had slept in their clothes quite happily but I mind, even if they don't.

I can't deal with the long turnaround times.
I'd have the same issue and simply don't own enough stuff. I'd have to buy so much more for the boys for it to work.

RosaI'm reluctant to waster money on someone doing something I can do myself too I do have the odd home delivery for bulk buying household stuff but I don't like buying F&V that way. I'm quite good at round Lidl and out in 20 minutes though :o

Busy week doing stuff for client and I am travelling very day for them this week. OH got paid, and my client paid another one of my invoices so the various bank accounts look (briefly) healthy. Very tempted to fritter on something needless and indulgent :o Actually I am nearly out of perfume - Chloe, Roses - so that would be a sensible fritter. Might try something new, although still rose based.

Beef out for Sunday roast - its pouring down so a good choice. 10 tiny lemons for £1 from MrM so need to do something with them and a tub of cream. Maybe a tartless tart au citron? I absolutely have to stop eating flour, the odd slice of bread or pastry is now triggering a huge allergic reaction and I spent most of yesterday with stomach ache and itching hands as a result of a bit of white baguette. Need to make a chilli or something tomorrow, but also have freezer food which is quick and easy.

I'm going through duty free next week if you want to do some perfume testing and give me an order?

I have the same thing about paying someone to do what I can do myself, however, I still haven't serviced the lawnmower after 2 years.. My boss has told me I need to be realistic about what I can achieve, and he's probably right. I need to sort out getting help so I can do stuff I enjoy.

Raining today, so not getting on with the gardening I wanted to do, or clearing out the garage. Doing the odd bit of cooking and vaguely tidying up as cleaner is due Tuesday and my brother is also coming to take away the big wardrobe. I should probably order a new wardrobe too...

As for food, I've now had my gastroenterology referral and it appears my problem is most likely an allergy. I have to keep eating as normal until I've had the biopsies, but avoid bread and meat as they're a choking risk. My GP was reluctant to refer me (an my GP brother was also fairly dismissive of getting any kind of outcome for an intermittent issue), but the consultant has taken the problem seriously, has a list of things to rule out and a probable diagnosis. My brother has given me the name of an allergy consultant he recommends if that is the problem. TBH right now I would be quite happy to be put on a liquid amino acid diet and not have to bother with the whole eating thing (as long as I can have chocolate...). So it might be worth pushing for a gastro referral.

Pastry free tarte au citron is lemon baked custard :) You could make lemon ice-cream!

I love rose scents too :) am guessing you've already tried Jo Malone Red Roses?

Congratulations on the new job Redo.

Re keeping on top of the house work, I've been following someone on Insta and fbk called the organised mum. She breaks the jobs down into 30 mins per day. Ive found it easy to stick to so far... but haven't done it whilst at work yet xx

Thanks mummytogirls - its a short term project rather than a long term job, probably a good thing as it is all consuming, Seven hours of driving today

Boys back to school shortly so all of the spending associated with that, then once they are back it'll be text books so I'm actually resisting my fritter but thanks for the offer Greenbee, and the reminder that that was what I wanted to try next Rosa (after a discussion on DIAs diary when she got debt free).

Congrats on the new job :) I admit I struggle to keep up with the cleaning with working full time. I bought the organised mum book but after a couple of days life takes over and I lose the plot.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Plenty more trips coming up when you do decide...

I've got Paul Smith Roses if you want to try it sometime.

If you're having a new perfume exploration and treat, this place does samples by mail and have a lot of obscure ones that aren't available very easily elsewhere. The staff also really know their stuff and will help you find the right thing (without being offended when you pull faces at the ones you don't like!). If you do go to the shop it's very near Selfridges and Liberty which also have niche brands but in among a lot of more available options so it tends to take longer to find them.

  • Maybe you should treat yourself to some perfume as you're working so hard. I'm the devil on your shoulder.

Hi there redo! A very belated happy one year diary anniversary and well done on all you have achieved in that time!:T

Congrats on the new job as well and thanks for posting the yummy courgette fritters recipe.

Re perfume - If you know what you want I've found the allbeauty.com website has some great discounts. I only wear Guerlain perfumes and their eau de parfums can work out pricey - but I got the Insolence eau de parfum for 40% off last time I bought it. Does some good bargains on beauty and make-up and is well worth a look.
