Hi all, hope you're well!
Today instead of going straight for the vending machine at work (too easy to use with a contactless card!), I ate some ancient crunchy granola bars we have had in our cupboards forever and I brought in to work to try and finally get rid of them!
Lunch was last night's leftover pasta with some kidney beans, sweetcorn, scotch bonnet chillies and salad cream mixed in...

Hello All,
I have had a good few MSE days and am back on the wagon.
- Grant for school uniform has been approved, so I am waiting for a cheque.
- Shopping, freezer is full and used £10 off coupon
- I have done some Christmas shopping, using survey money and tucked the gifts away from prying eyes.
- Food at home over the weekend, before heading off on holiday (self catering)
- House cleaned and tidied.
- Taking DD to the optician tomorrow, aim to park in town for free.0 -
Hi Friday Frugalistas,
My back has been quite a bit better today. Am trying so hard to remember not to fling myself around with my usual levels of energy as that's what happened last time & I put myself right back to square 1. Anyway.....
*City centre trip was quite well controlled. Parked before 9am which is cheaper. Had coffee & teacakes out but took packed lunch to avoid falling into the panini & chips trap later. Small spend.on needed clothing item for each of us but had remembered to take cash from Clothes Piggy so no effect on bank account. Also paid for a baking item from Household Piggy.
*Found a double blu-ray set in CEX which I've wanted for ages but too expensive full price. £8 2nd hand & looks brand new. Bought with August's personal spends so effect on bank account is nil.
*Called in to beauty dept in big store to try a spray of a perfume I'd seen advertised. Assistant asked if I'd like some free samples of their men's skincare range. I said yes, expecting little sachets but she gave me a dinky giftbag with 3 mini boxed samples. Mr f well-impressed with this largesse!
*Picked lots more huge tomatoes.
*Was given a voucher for 12p off per litre of fuel at Sainsbury's as we spent more than £50...........which brings me on to the NOT money-saving thing.....£54 target grocery spend today & we spent £62. Grrrrr! I think I'll get round this by batch cooking quite a bit this week & freezing, while working up next meal plan at the same time.
Think that's it......oh.no, I did do sonething else. I have labelled 9 jars of greengage jam which I made last night. Will give at least a couple of these as gifts.
Enjoy your Friday nights, all.
F xx2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
I went to the zoo today using my annual pass so no money spent. Took a picnic so extra money saving. Meaning I can claim my second nsd of this month!Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #820

Evening all and happy Friday

Took lunch into work today but foolishly didn't notice until I'd paid that it went through full price instead of the YS price
and I'd said 'no' to a receipt
I took a pair of DS work trousers back to M+S for a refund as his proper chef ones arrived.
A few more beauty freebies today (I got shampoo and conditioner yesterday), I got some hairspray, dry shampoo and a set of make up brushes. I also got a box of scraps of material for the young daughter of someone my mum is friendly with who has just got a toy sewing machine.
Today was an odd day, people out of the office so not much work passed through to us even though there is tons that needs to be done, I've been in a right grump all day. On the plus side I got a few surveys on PA done and will be up to payout amount again as soon as they are approved!
I have decided that I am going to get a cleaner just to do the two rooms downstairs once a week, it's a constant struggle to keep up with the housework when I am out of the house for 10 hours a day
Dinner tonight was a linguine ready meal for DS and a jacket potato with cheese for me, I could quite happily eat that every night!
Have a good weekend everyone

Evening all - not a nsd for me today but planned spends. DS and I had a hair appointment and I needed to post a letter. Other than that, I'm more than half way through this batch of marking, which I'm really pleased about. So I've been mostly busy marking.
I have also found myself a cleaner :T She starts on Monday and didn't run screaming from the house so that's good...
Hopefully we can get on top of this mess and stay on top of it. Not giving up

Morning
I woke up thinking about how to rearrange my kitchen cupboards - saddo that I am :rotfl: - I think they're a lot better now but the tea towels are currently homeless... Need to have another little think  Kitchen is inching towards completion with the plasterer coming next week but who knows when the tiling might happen... It's getting embarrassing now
I'm off out for lunch today with a pal who's down visiting. I was going to get the bus but OH said he'd give me a lift so that's good. OH is coming to meet us later - not coming for lunch - so that's kinda like a half-price deal for our budget.
I need to clean the floors today - we've got a Thomas vacuum, which is amazing but a bit more hard work than your usual type so that puts me off using it as often.
I've been totally money-obsessed recently...
Need to wait until OH sees what his new take-home pay will be before we do a proper snowball but I'm getting excited because the last one I did said I could be debt-free in 2 years... Pesky loan!
Happy weekend everyone! :beer:0
