My cash deposit at post office gone missing

Tomorrow will be one week. I really hope to see the money in my bank account tomorrow and there is no way I will entrust my money to PO again. TSB is also not very helpful. They have seen my deposit receipt from the PO, but refused to credit my account. I need that cash to pay my bills

Have you any bank branch locally?
If so, why not open an account there so that you can deposit cash and then use the internet to FP the money to TSB?
Ditch and switch - why use a bank that doesn't offer you the facilities you want? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
No, not yet. And it's one week already. But TSB finally agreed to start an investigation. They will try to trace where the money has gone. And yes in their Ts & Cs it clearly says that money should show in my account on the next business day. But as you can see, they don't really care when it comes to their customer's money. I expected more help from them. It's really frustrating. They are not giving me any time frame. I believe that what's happened is not my fault and they should have credited my bank account once they saw my receipt and then take it with the Post Office.sausage_time wrote: »Has the cash turned up yet? My advise would be if your bank doesn't provide Chip&PIN deposits at the PO I'd suggest don't risk depositing cash by pay in slips, especially if it's TSB. It could be weeks before you see your money again. I really hope my cash will turn up eventually.0 -
Yes, it's unbelievable. TSB is still using a snail mail in the 21st century for the PO deposits. I haven't decided yet which bank to switch to, but as I'm in Scotland I don't think Santander is a good option.firefox1956 wrote: »Blimey one week for a cash credit !!
I pay cash into my Santander account at my local PO & it is in the account before I get out of the door.
One week these day is taking the wotsit I think.0 -
Thank you. So it looks like what's happened is not an isolated case and it happens often with Lloyds and TSB. Nothing changed since 2011. People waited 9-10 days then and I'm waiting 7 days already in 2017forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3383756
If only I knew. Or should I say - if only TSB didn't close down their branch in my neighbourhood. 0 -
Mum had the same issues with cash paid in at the PO for a Barclays account.
The bank traced the money for her.
She stopped using the service, Barclays have recently introduced Chip&Pin for cash deposits at the PO however.0 -
They have even less branches than TSB.
It will depend where you stay but BOS, RBS and Clydesdale are the obvious choices for branch access. Other safe options would be Nationwide and Santander.
As for the Post Office,
Santander and Clydesdale allow deposits with card.
RBS and BOS use pay-in slips like TSB.
Nationwide don't offer PO deposits. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
