Mrs S, family life and debt

Mrs s I read your diary regularly but don’t think I have ever commented. I don’t sleep well either haven’t done for years . Obviously much older than you but i am convinced it’s from the children being small and never really getting back into a proper sleep routine. I have tried herbal teas, tablets etc, but nothing works. Have never had sleeping tablets, the best thing I found is not to get anxious about it . I get up in the night for a couple of nights then the following night probably sleep ok for me. The day I go to sleep at 10pm and wake up at 6am without waking in the night , I would think I was ill.
On the shoe front it’s a shame the clarks outlet is far away , ours is 10 minute drive away and you can save some money. The price of children’s shoes though is extortionate .

Thank you Cumbria Lass - I think you're right about it being caused by the children!! During both pregnancies I suffered awfully with insomnia, I slept until about 2am, and then would be awake the rest of the night. Then once they're born it is the night feeds. I've been lucky that both boys sleep pretty well and have both slept through since they were around 6 months. Ds2 is an early riser, though, and these days ds1 tends to use the toilet during the night. I hear as soon as he opens his bedroom door! Once I'm awake there's no getting back to sleep!!! I also use far too much technology which doesn't help at all!!
Grocery delivery has arrived, no substitutions today. I've swapped some tesco vouchers this morning for days out vouchers and have planned a family Sunday out the second weekend in January. The vouchers completely cover the entrance cost, and we'll take a picnic with us (they thankfully have indoor tables!!) so won't cost a thing. The eldest will be super excited, the youngest hasn't been since he was very small but I think he'll love it too.
It's my birthday at the end of the month, and my mum has booked a night away at a spa for me and her as my birthday gift :j It's a very nice spa so I'm super excited. She got a very good deal, which includes a 3 course meal, a treatment, overnight stay and breakfast. I'll smuggle in a bottle of prosecco in my luggage to share in the room so won't spend too much in the bar!! :j :jStarting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Oooo love a spa! I often go with 3 girlfriends and we have a mini party in the room before we go down for dinner. Prosecco, cocktails and nibbles!
As for sleep, I find that exercise is the key. I always sleep better after a run or gym class.0 -

I know you're right. I do need to increase the exercise!!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Definitely slept better, and might even have been still asleep now if it wasn't for the fact we've just had a nice storm which knocked our electricity off. I do like listening to thunder and lightning, though it has all stopped now, but it could have happened a couple of hours later :rotfl: Neither of the boys heard a thing, though.
Well, it's the last day of the year! We're off to family for the night which means company but no need for babysitters! It's the first New Years Eve we've been out of the house since before I fell pregnant with ds1. I'm just wondering how I'll manage to stay up until midnight :rotfl:
The birthday gift I ordered for my nephew arrived yesterday, he's rapidly approaching the teenage years so I'm finding him super difficult to buy for. I ordered a branded/big name tshirt for him in the sales (and managed free delivery). £9 spent - I'm happy with that.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Teenagers are a pain to buy for. I have an 18 and 14 year old and they just want money. They are both into designer stuff of which I have no interest in or see the point of. It’s just a rip off!
A £9 spend is good though!0 -
If anyone I know ever reads this and thinks that they know who I am, this post will definitely confirm it.
Back during my last diary (I think, or the 1 before) I mentioned struggles that me and dh were having. That would have been 2 years ago. Things have got slowly worse and today we have decided to separate. We haven't fallen out, we're talking and we're going to take it step by step this week so that the dc are our number one priority and feel as secure and loved as they possibly can. Obviously we have so much to work out. We both just want the children to grow up in a happy environment. That happy environment is moving away very quickly and I think it would be far more cruel for us to stay together for them. He won't be moving out for a couple of days so we can sort out a few things before speaking with the children. We've agreed that he'll be the one leaving, though I don't know how things will work out long term. Thank you. It's all feeling a bit strange at the minute, kind of calm. I think we both knew this was coming. We've talked again this evening about the practicalities short term, and it seems as if we're both wanting the same things. Our boys are by far the most important things, so we'll do everything in our power to make sure they're feeling as happy, safe and loved as we possibly can.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
I’m so sorry to hear that, hope you’re ok. It’s good that you’re still talking and have the same priorities.0
