Mrs S, family life and debt

DS2's photos were ridiculously expensive - £32. And I went for the second cheapest option. Yikes!!!
£32 for photos
There is tremendous pressure on parents to buy these every year throughout a childs' school life. One thing I would say is that we have a cupboard full of school photos for our daughters now they are grown up and we tended to only buy every other year and only once in secondary school. If you have two or three kids it is just unaffordable to spend that much money on photos every year unless you have a limitless budget.
Going back I wish we had just bought the first primary school one and the last primary school one and not bothered with secondary ones at all.
They make great presents for grandparents though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. They will definitely be given as gifts!! I'm aiming the when they're in school we get just one of the 2 of them together and not individuals every year. The school ones were cheaper than the nursery ones.
I actually came on to post last night, but ended up dozing off before posting :rotfl: It wasn't even 10pm. I'm ridiculously tired every night and find my way into bed early. I woke stupidly early this morning (4:30) so am reall feeling it tonight. Both boys are in bed so I've crawled into bed and may read for a little while but will no doubt be asleep very early.
Finances are all up to date. I've checked the bank accounts and ynab. I need to phone virgin mobile tomorrow as they are supposed to be sending me money for my old phone. I'm still waiting 2 weeks later.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
I was actually asleep before 8pm last night :rotfl: So much for reading!!! Today I'm taking ds1 to school (no snow here, but very cold!!!), will get ds2 down for a nap then once he's woken and had some lunch we'll pop out for a bit to get all the final bits for Christmas. I need to get Dh cards, gift bags for the more awkward gifts and a new bobble hat for ds1 as his has a massive hole in (he enjoys pulling it down over his eyes so think he's done it once too often)!! I also have a couple of other gifts to buy that I forgot about!!
Otherwise I may sort through ds2's wardrobe as he's moved to the next size. I'll probably do that this morning to see what he's short of to stock up (Tesco - typically they had 20% off which ended yesterday!!).Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
What a busy week!!! Birthday parties, first birthday, Christmas shopping finished, school plays, haircuts, ds2 full of cold and work. I found out that I may be getting a bonus in this month's pay - yay!! :j I can't believe that Christmas is only 1 week away now. I've not written any cards yet (not that I write many!!) and need to sit with ds1 today to help him write cards for his school friends. I've wrapped all but 1 gift. Will wrap that one today.
Work is a bit all over the place this week. Working on my usual day off, day off when I usually work, half day 1 day for the work Christmas dinner (paid for by management!) and a half day next Friday (though I'm the only one in the office......it will be a long morning!!).
Financially it's ok. I'm hoping that most of the expense has now been done. I'm waiting for money for upgrading my mobile and sending my old one back. I should've had it by now, but surprise surprise I'm having issues. It will be sorted next week now apparently (will be keeping a close eye) and the issues I've had are being investigated.

I am literally so confused as to what day it is!! It's all because my work pattern has changed for the week. Dh asked last night who was taking ds1 to school this morning, but was assuming I'd already sorted it. I'm usually off on a Tuesday (but knew weeks ago I was working!!) and hadn't sorted anything out. Oops!! Thankfully we got it all sorted. Shambles!!!
I'm definitely getting my bonus at the end of the month, as well as a 2% pay rise. :j I've only got 2 half days left in work and a work dinner before finishing for Christmas. I've actually got 2 weeks off and I really can't wait.
I still haven't had the mobile money back (shock, horror!!!), so will be contacting them on Thursday if it isn't sorted. It's getting so frustrating now!!!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
I've had my payslip for December (though the pay isn't going in until the end of the month). I've had my bonus as well as a payrise. My pay is going up again at the end of January :j I've worked through my spreadsheet to budget for January. I can't do anything now until next Friday when all the money is in.
I've had a food shop delivery this morning. One item was missing and was charged for. It was my meat!!! I'm currently waiting for the supermarket to call me back to let me know what they're going to do about it. I have been waiting around 2 hours already so will be calling them soon. I know they're busy, but I need to work on a plan b if plan a is going to fall apart. It's not the end of the world, and a nuisance more than anything!
I now have 2 weeks off work. :j Dh has finished work for 2 weeks and ds1 has finished school for the holidays. Ds1 is super excited though, and is bouncing around the place. Ds2 doesn't have an idea of what's going on, but he's bouncing around the place anyway!!
Today is going to be a relatively quiet day, before a busy Christmas eve. I'm avoiding all shops as I can't stand how busy and crazy it can get.
I may not be back on now before Christmas, so Merry Christmas to everyone (anyone??) reading.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
