takingonedayatatime wrote: »Hi All
Had a real wobble on Saturday and went to my bed early to read blogs.
There wasn't even a good excuse
a) it was Saturday so why not?
b) i haven't drunk for 5 weeks so why not?
c) Haven't stopped running after the kids all week and I deserve a treat?
d) Its cold and miserable so a glass of wine with a rug on the sofa sounds lovely?
However, it passed and I am still plodding on - 6/30 for me Shaggy please.
Thank you to everyone who posts on here, I can't tell you how helpful I find it.
Excellent effort:Twell done you.
3/20 please.0 -
3/15 please. I had planned to have a glass or two of wine this weekend. Sunday though I did drink too much due to the open bottle from Saturday calling to me. Need to plan better - oh and actually have some willpower too.
Well done takingonedayatatime, a much better response from you.0 -

Thanks maman. You're right that it's better to have achievable targets than set yourself up to fail.
Poor single lady don't be so hard on yourself, you have 3 days behind you. Right now I would be delighted with that! It's all relative. I only know no one ever felt better when they berated themselves so you should be patting yourself on the back.
You did really well one day to get through a wobble. It's amazing how easy it is when things are fine, then out of the blue the mind (a fantastic servant, but very poor master) starts to peck at your head!
Welcome to the new starters, this forum is such a fantastic aid to support and encourage you. Even when times are tough (well actually especially when times are tough), keep returning to these pages and keep going.0 -

So pleased for you oneday. It is so hard when all those voices keep telling you why it would be OK to have a drink. Congratulations on shutting them up!:D
No drinking here today.
5 AFDs please Shaggy.0 -
Sometimes, OneDay, going to bed and reading really is the only thing you can do to get through a tough evening. They happen, and that's what giving up means, in all honesty. If it were easy it wouldn't be a problem, would it? We have to tough it out and once we've got a few under our belt, they gradually peter out and get easier at the same time. Belle of Tired of Thinking About Drinking says that if people can get to Day 60, they generally make it and knowing that helped me enormously. Hang on in there because I really am rooting for you. You're doing amazingly well, and I really hope that you've found life more rewarding since you knocked it on the head. It is worth it, I promise you.Green_Karen wrote: »Can I set a gentle target of 5 for Nov please Shaggy, not doing so well lately but keep popping in so that when the time is right, I won't waste the opportunity to get some good AF days behind me.
As long as you keep coming back, Green Karen, you'll be okay. It's when people are finding it tough and then disappear that things can get out of hand. I miss them, too. Hang on in there.I'm now on day 16 - really hasn't crossed my mind now for about a week :EasterBun
We went to a training day on Saturday and there were biscuits. I had at least four, maybe five, but that's a lot fewer than I would have had a month ago. And OH bought a bar of chocolate after lunch, and I ate three squares, but I would have bought a whole bar for just myself ten days ago so that's an improvement.
Watching Nigella last night OH and I thought we'd have a go at making her pomegranate ice cream (orange liqueur notwithstanding) but we were both horrified by the sauce she made to go with it. My teeth itched just looking at the amount of sugar that went in, in at least three different forms. Plus butter. Whaaaaaaat?
So, anyway, I've been sort of cheese-free and sort of sugar-free (nobody's perfect) for a week now and I'm happy with that even though I haven't actually lost any weight. That'll happen; I just have to be patient. I need to cut down on the amount I eat generally but doing everything straight away in one hit is just too much.Poor_Single_lady wrote: »This month is not going well at all. Good luck with it PSL. Christmas, and the run up to it, is a real toughie when you're used to just sloshing booze back but you don't want to do that any more. On Christmas Eve and Christmas DayI'm the only person who posts, usually! I think we all go a bit mad in November and December, to be honest, franticly buying stuff, gorging ourselves and over-indulging. The older I get the more old-fashioned I get about it; less is more so to speak. It's a huge relief not to have to try to keep up and much to my surprise the sky hasn't fallen in and I enjoy it more.
7/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0
