Please don't be offended if something I say jars with what you think or believe - the whole point of the thread is to be able to thrash out what we think and feel anonymously about our individual relationships with alcohol.

Hey no not in the least offended, Honey Bear, just offering my own perspective on the article, which is different from yours, probably because of our different personal histories and approaches. In my book if the article provoked a bit of debate, that's good. :)

Scatterbrain, I confess I'd be irked by that too - if I had friends over, I wouldn't give them plonk or posh stuff, something decent in between. Or, if I was serving plonk, I'd throw in a couple of bottles of decent stuff as well. Or, if I didn't do that, and hid all the good stuff, I'd at least admit to myself I was being a bit mean with my friends :) I agree with Honey Bear tho that the fact that she keeps pulling you off the wagon is not a good sign - it shows a lack of concern both for your health and your obvious efforts to deal with alcohol in a better way.

:eek:Oh my days OVER £2000 pa on alcohol way back in 2010  - that to me is a problem even if she doesn't think so! That is £167 per MONTH. That's 33 plus bottles of wine at £5 (per month). Or 11 plus bottles of spirits at £15 per bottle (per month). Nuts imho.

In 2010 I spent the grand total of £74 on alcohol ALL YEAR - £6 per month - that was also for 2 of us. That was my lowest ever amount however.....:D That year I has 273 AFDs.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
