Been a hard day today.
On Saturday (30th) we went away for new year.
On Sunday morning our cat visitor/carer called to say our elderly cat had a seizure and she was taking her to the vet.
About an hour later the vet called, cat in heart failure and enlarged liver. Immediate treatment and investigation £850 - £900 follow on care for next few days would be £2-3k
I said I would discuss with OH and call back.
Even then I knew what we had to do.
Purdy was put to sleep on Sunday morning, I felt so sad and heartsick that we couldn't be with her.
We got home yesterday and picked her up today and buried her in the garden when the children came home from school.
Many tears have flowed today and I've just been out to check her grave.
I just feel sad and wanted to share. I haven't wanted a drink strangely enough. I'm just about to have my hot milk and go to bed.
Goodnight all

Jo, so very very sorry to hear about Purdy - my heart goes out to you - it's always so sad to lose a pet. I'm sure she had a lovely life and surely if she wasn't in the best of health you did the kind thing xxxx0

Baileysonice I've been having problems with sleep also, had some toast at 8ish last night and slept through. Maybe worth a try, think my body was missing the evening calories!
5/31 for today please Shaggy0 -
Jo, so sorry to hear about Purdy (we had a Purdy as well many years ago) - I know what a hard decision it is to make, even more so when you are away from home and could not be with her
I am sure she knew how much you loved her and she will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge :A

So very sorry to hear about your sad loss Jo. Sad times but it sounds as if she was lucky to be with you and your family and had a good innings. xx0

:eek:Oh my days OVER £2000 pa on alcohol way back in 2010  - that to me is a problem even if she doesn't think so! That is £167 per MONTH. That's 33 plus bottles of wine at £5 (per month). Or 11 plus bottles of spirits at £15 per bottle (per month). Nuts imho.
In 2010 I spent the grand total of £74 on alcohol ALL YEAR - £6 per month - that was also for 2 of us. That was my lowest ever amount however.....:D That year I has 273 AFDs.
That point had completely passed me by, Shaggy! I'm not sure what OH and I were spending on booze a year back in 2010 but I don't think it was anywhere near that much - and at that point we were both drinking heavily. Good point.scatterbrain109 wrote: »Been a hard day today.

I'm so sorry to hear about Purdy, Scatterbrain. I don't think anyone could have been unluckier with all the elements going into losing her. No wonder you were so sad when you posted. She would have known she was absolutely loved all the time she was with you and I've no doubt you gave her a lovely life. The pain of losing them is the price we pay for all the happiness they give us but it is very, very hard when it happens. (((Hugs)))
Our little Devil Cat is in the very last stages of terminal cancer, and has been for several months but no-one's told him, so every day is a miracle. OH keeps randomly bursting into tears about the thought of having to make the phone call but at least it's not totally unexpected and we've been allowed to spoil him rotten for weeks.
5/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -

Hello everyone, thank you for your messages.
I've been having urges to drink today but managing to swat them away.
Today is day 5/31. That's 10% of my initial target of 50 straight days from 1st January.
I'm back at work on Monday. Fortunately I will have a week under my belt by then.
The hardest thing is the 4pm urge feeling I have earned a bottle of wine.
I need to make sure I turn left out of the office and head to the car park, not to turn right toward the shops.
Have a good Friday night everyone, if you are drinking, keep safe.
