Finally some movement this month!. My seller has confirmed that her solicitors received the management pack from the managing agents this morning and it should be with my solicitors today. I'll check in with them in a day or two or see if they've had a chance to go through it.
My sellers also confirmed that they are ok with my ideal completion window 6-17 Nov so fingers crossed we can exchange in time for that.0 -
Sounds like lots of progress being made all round - well done to all those exchanging and nearing completion.
STILL no progress for me. We are awaiting the NHBC certificate to come through for the house we are buying from the vendor's solicitor. My solicitor doesn't know when or even how this will arrive, and thinks my instruction to 'chase' means send a casual email asking for an update. :wall:
I can't see us ever getting moved, and now we are living out of boxes waiting to drop everything and go.0 -
We are between 10 and 21 days to exchange (I think!), haven't spoken to my solicitor for a week though.
Does anyone else have the problem of constantly wrestling with themselves over if/when they should call/email their solicitor for an update?
I want to know timescales so badly but constantly fear if I do ring for an update that there will be some bad news or setback!
Our sellers are very keen and we have their estate agent chasing me every week to chase our solicitor, but I'm trying to contact the solicitor just once a week and not get obsessive about it.0 -
How often did you chase in the early stages? We're now a week on from asking our solicitor to crack on (we'd asked him to hold off as the top of our chain was looking shaky, but our vendor has now decided to go into rental) and we've heard nothing.
I wasn't too worried but 2 colleagues who have recently moved have said I should be chasing for an update by now.
Similarly with my mortgage application, we haven't heard anything other than a standard 'we've received your application' since the application went in 10 days ago. When would you be chasing?0 -
Kate we didn't chase so much in the early stages, maybe once every 10 days, but it depends on your particular chain.
We knew we would get nowhere with chasing as we were waiting on the sellers solicitors to draw up a new lease so it was out of our solicitors control.
I have just cracked and emailed our solicitor asking for an update. Now can't stop checking emails every 10 minutes...0 -
Thanks juniordoc, I think I'll hold off until Thursday-ish before I ask for an update so it will be approaching 2 weeks.
I'm thinking that things should be moving quicker with our sale than our purchase as our buyer didn't wait for the chain to be complete before she started things moving. Her survey was done before we even had a complete chain and we did all the property info and fixtures and fitting lists weeks ago but haven't heard anything about that.0 -
Oh Natbag that's so frustrating!
Kate, I didn't chase much at the start either - mostly the mortgage broker - and I quickly realised that did no good anyway as they were pretty good at chasing the lender without me doing anythingHaven't chased solicitor much as we were just waiting for searches anyway (and he rang me a few times anyway). I suppose I've chased every 3 or 4 days when I knew someone was meant to be doing something specific (eg writing a letter, or replying to something).
I could have chased more, but feeling like I HAD to chase someone every day was making me quite stressed...
Feel like I can't really chase til our !!!!in mortgage is approved  Broker spoke to lender this morning - they've received solicitor's letter and hope to make a decision by Wednesday. I flippin hope that decision involves an actual mortgage offer for the amount we've applied for - Wednesday will be the start of Week 12 since our chain was complete and I'm rather stressed that we've got this far with no confirmation we can actually have the money :eek:0 -
I emailed my solicitor this morning and got her out of office  I called and her assistant said we were still fine to complete on Friday. That was not the email I wanted to get today!!0

We finally seem to be getting somewhere after months of nothing. Our offer was accepted in July, and we got our mortgage offer right at the start of August. The sellers solicitors seem to have just been twiddling their thumbs the whole time!!
Then finally a couple of weeks ago they sent over the enquiry responses that our solicitor sent on 10/08 and the ball was in our court. At which point our solicitor informed us that we needed six months of bank statements and certified photo ID from the person gifting some of our deposit. That would be my 80-something year old grandmother. Could he not have told us before?!
Anyway finally we have that sorted as well as our help to buy bonus, and he's saying completion November 3rd.
What's weird is that he hasn't mentioned exchange of contracts at all. I don't know what's going on there.0 -
Well I was hoping to find out when we're likely to be exchanging today, seeing as our buyer has agreed to a completion date of 6th November, which is 2 weeks today and I think everything is ready to go.
Got fed up of waiting for an update so called our solicitor's office to be told he's not in today. So another day of waiting again - joy!Thank you to everyone who posts on here0
