I finally got hold of my conveyancer on Friday. Turns out she's been struggling with home schooling so I now feel a bit sorry for her. Apparently, despite our offer being accepted 10th Feb the sellers have not yet instructed their solicitor to pass contract details on. So, we have the mortgage ready to go and the solicitors ready to press the button on the searches but they can't yet apparently.

Is it normal for sellers to delay the instruction? I have an appointment with my conveyancer on Tuesday to give them a document so will get an update then. In the meantime I've emailed the EA to let them know where we are and see if that helps hurry things along.

This whole thing just feels like a game at the moment.

It depends on their situation... Are they also purchasing? If so they might be waiting for the entire chain to form before instructing solicitors (which is recommended but my buyer didn't and I didn't lol)

    They might still be searching!

There is a smallish chain of four. Us at the start and someone selling to move in with parents at the end. All offers accepted, our sellers don't need a mortgage, not sure about their sellers. Hopefully it will start to move soon. I know our local authority are currently taking 11 working days for searches which is ok but our sellers are moving to another area who are taking twice as long.

So our conveyancer spoke to me at 12:00 Thurs and said she was waiting for one email then would call me back 'before the end of the day' so we could exchange either that afternoon or Friday. Turns out she failed to mention that she'd booked Friday off (no sickness, a pre-booked day of leave) and never told us (and never called back before the end of the day). Had to ask for her manager who said our file was nowhere near signed off after we'd been told it was, and that no one could do anything before next week.

Waiting for tomorrow to hear if her manager has spoken to her about it, and hopefully rings me to tell me why the hell she's been giving me incorrect info.

Morning everyone! Let’s hope everyone gets some good outcomes today! I’ve emailed my solicitor this morning to chase as we are just waiting on mortgage funds and ideally want to be moving tomorrow as we’d originally all agreed today but we’ve not heard a peep from the solicitor since Thursday. We are only on leave until Thursday night as this was all booked weeks ago to accommodate the agreed moving date, I’d of cancelled it but solicitor kept assuring us it would happen this week sooooo here we are! Good luck everyone

My vendor wants completion 26th March..... Bottom of chain aren't ready and zero removals available anyway. We'd hire a van if we weren't moving over an hour away.... Stressed with the logistics of it all haha!!
