So here is my completion/moving story
Completed on 28th! Vendor got her keys at 2pm (it's only across road from me and she's only moved to the next street) we had mutual agreement that they could take all time they needed, we wasn't planning on moving until the Saturday anyway!
We got the keys around 9pm from a very very tired lookin vendor, went over to our house with the prosecco and a few boxes. Popped prosecco in kitchen and shown the family the house, kids loved it
Went back home and I eagerly woke up at 3.30am.....yes 3.30am!! Laid in bed trying to fight the urge to get up and then gave in was I've at the house for 5 am sortin kitchen out....the move was busy, but lots of family to help, no van needed obviously.
Made sure the beds and kitchen was set up as a priority, dinner time was bacon cob breaktime with cuppas! Then carried on the move (along with a 260 litre fish tank!) did pizzas and beer for all our helpers at tea time
Sunday we had to spend scrubbing old house, as it's private rented, keys had to be handed back Monday, I was so fed up, didn't want to be there and just wanted to stay in new house! So even now we still have a lot of boxes to empty but we are so happy in our new home! Still feels quite surreal that it's ours!
Good luck to everyone still waiting to exchange, seems to drag but then comes around so fast!1 -

We had a viewer today, he seemed to like it, said he had more houses to view on Friday. Fingers crossed.

this is ridiculous after you met their ever changing demands.
there should be things in place to prevent his when you have bent over backwards for them already.

well done GLBooth3,
here is our update...
we didn't complete when we wanted but have been informed that the bottom chain have sent funds across to solicitors,
we have agredd the 10th for completion, so have the botom chain and so have the vendor we are buying from, so it all falls down to the people buying our house, hopefully they agree the 10th and we can get exchanged today,
hopefully,When the chips are down, go for broke and put them all on Red!:p:beer:0 -
My current timeline:
offer accepted- 23rd May
~void of time where 1st mortgage application was rejected~
19th June - Valuation Survey Recieved
17th July - Mortgage offer recieved
1st Aug - after much chasing, solicitor finally receives draft contract from vendors solicitors
3rd Aug - Enquiries Raised / Searches Sent
I'm so sick of waiting now, and feel like it will be a LONG time before we move. On the plus, my solicitors appear to be fantastic, shame the vendors aren't!!!!0 -
Guys, how long does it take after signing contracts to actually exchange? Both parties want to complete soonest, the vendors have signed their contracts and the paperwork seems to be in order (we're just waiting on their solicitors to sort indemnity insurance). So tomorrow when we sign our contract is it reasonable to request immediate exchange and then completion Monday/Tuesday?0

Long time lurker, first time buyer here! It's been so useful reading all of your stories over the past few weeks (in the new and old thread!). We exchanged yesterday so thought I'd put our timeline on here in the hope it helps someone else;
Offer made and accepted 03/06
Solicitor instructed 05/06 (although we didn't pay for the searches until out mortgage offer came through officially)
Mortgage appointment 19/06
Valuation appointment 27/06
Mortgage offer issued 29/06
Searches back/enquires made 12/07
All solicitor enquiries complete 21/07
Solicitors report collected 28/07
Signed contracts 01/08
Exchanged 03/08
Set to complete (hopefully!!!) - 14/08
We've been lucky that there is no chain - the property we're buying was rented out and the tenants moved on 25/06 so it's been empty ever since!
Hope you all exchange very soon!0 -
Still waiting for enquiries to be answered.... I have since "again" brought up the fact that our mortgage offer has FLAT 4 on it instead of No.4 as there are two properties on the street I can only assume this would be a problem with where our mortgage statements would get sent too etc ! .
In terms of the loan it would be secured against the correct property when the solicitor sends off the registry details etc. (They have correct address). I have just asked our broker if Halifax are to amend this will it go through the whole process again hoping to exchange this month..
Halifax's valuation was done at the correct property and has the correct address on their valuation report so therefore this I would hope is just a clerical error that can be amended in 10 mins!.
Hope everyone is getting that little bit closer. I was thinking we started this process in April however it was MARCH after looking through old paperwork ! definitely dragging this one out one thing after another for us as FTB I am put off for life!0 -

Yep. We lost our seller too yesterday as thy accepted another offer. If we get an offer in the next few weeks we will be offering again on their property as there is nothing else i like in my price bracket at the moment.
All very stressful!DFW Total £21,800 to clear by Dec 2022

well only going on our own experience,
we signed contracts around the 20th July and we are still yet to exchange,
we were told we would have completed way before now but yet still not even exchanged.
i am just fed up now and was told exchange should have happened yesterday yet still no update,
i feel this will be again dragged into next week, i was hoping to complete on 10th August as everyone has agreed but one person in chain left to agree it,
but if we do not exchange today i cannot see completion for at least maybe 18th so really really annoyed right now.
so to sum up, contracts signed to exchange can take a long time and what feels like forever.
our house before we exchanged and completed same day so who knows. When the chips are down, go for broke and put them all on Red!:p:beer:0
