Congratulations. I bet a whole weight has been lifted!katie91_2 said:
If you’ve spent the last 3 weeks being told everyone’s ready when they aren’t, possibly haha!RoyalPlum said:
recently resolved a query regarding indemnity. Could we all be in the same chain?katie91_2 said:On attempt 3 to exchange today. Yesterday it turns out our vendor had something outstanding on their onward purchase to do with an indemnity which has now been solved. All waiting on the top of the chain - how it’s failed this many times on a chain of 4 I have no idea. The incompetence is frustrating.
Finally, we have exchanged.
5 months and 22 days since our offer was accepted and 2 chain breakdowns later - it’s been a journey! Fingers crossed for everyone else in a similar situation - there is light at the end of the tunnel!
I hope you are right about the light at the end of the tunnel as it certainly does not feel like there is at this moment in time.1 -
Same here. We are supposed to be completing on the 12th Feb but I do not see that happening. No one else is mentioning the word exchange and feels like we are the only ones pushing for it.fastbs said:We didn’t really have much of an update today, just that it shouldn’t be longer than a few weeks. Apparently going to get an update tomorrow but we’ll see!
We found out that our 'no chain' property was in fact very much in a chain and I've not had the courage to ask how many links it involves.0 -
Welcome to the club. I hope your membership is a short one.ChickenSandwichK said:I'm new to the forum and It's been nice reading everyones updates and comments on how they're getting on in their own processes. Being a FTB I was getting a bit worried why is my house buying journey taking so long (currently on month 5 with no exchange in sight), however its reassuring to see that we're all in the same boat in regards to timescales and that progress is being made slowly but surely!2 -
That really pisses me off. Our sellers said yeah we'll go into rental rather than add another link.... Then we heads they were eying up a few properties to potential make offers on... I told them v politely we were only proceeding on the basis they would vacate on completion of the sale. We shall see (now they know the chain below us has reformed with new links so we're a few months away from completing...)RoyalPlum said:

Literally exactly the same position as us. We are due to find out tomorrow whether more enquiries have been raised in our vendors onward purchase.. I’m really hoping not!RoyalPlum said:

Managed to calm down after our nightmare yesterday.
So we're 4 months into the sale - all searches back, mortgages sorted, and every document signed. No chain. We've been in the enquiry stage for the last 5 weeks - we've been told the solicitors were discussing the enquiries, and that exchange would be "soon". Then I get a call at work from my solicitor. She has been discussing the same enquiries with the other solicitor since the start of January and they have not been able to provide any answers. To top it off, the lender, who issued our offer in November, had told her that they'd actually valued the property wrong, and that it would need another valuation! She then essentially started telling me about all the "worse case scenarios" that could happen now. It was so much to take in, especially considering I assumed she was ringing to arrange the exchange date! I freaked out yesterday thinking this house was now going to fall through as well (we had another fall through just before this, 3 months in). I kept thinking that I can't go through with this again, where would we live, what if I never got a house, etc. etc. Long story short, the issues can actually be covered with an indemnity insurance. We've still got to get another valuation and the bank take ages to even reply to emails. I've got this worry now that the bank will devalue it, and it will all fall through as I just can't think positively anymore! I'm hoping that fact that it was their fault means they do it within the next couple of weeks!
The house buying process is just infuriating - I have so many things go wrong in the last 7 months! These issues could have been solved whilst we were waiting for the other bits to happen, and I'm so frustrated that the bank did the valuation wrong. Hoping there's an end in sight, but who knows what else is going to get thrown our way?!0 -
Apparently it’s exchange/completion day tomorrow but the lender hasn’t been able to send the funds through today. I wonder if it’s too late now?0

Congratulations! Been a long time coming for you... hopefully we won’t be far behind, i remember our timeline was more or less the same from the Santander timeline thread!
