Exactly my feelings too!RoyalPlum said:
I think you summed it up in one here. I'm currently living & working out of the same room so I find myself with nothing to be distracted by. Spend all day everyday, sitting, just waiting for the phone to ring for some kind of meaningful update.CodeMatcha said:
I think the lockdown is making everything worse, because I can't just go out to distract myself.0 -
recently resolved a query regarding indemnity. Could we all be in the same chain?katie91_2 said:On attempt 3 to exchange today. Yesterday it turns out our vendor had something outstanding on their onward purchase to do with an indemnity which has now been solved. All waiting on the top of the chain - how it’s failed this many times on a chain of 4 I have no idea. The incompetence is frustrating.

OK, so similar reasons to us for wanting to move, though we're a decade older. But we also knew our house would not be the easiest to sell so, we decided if we got a good buyer with solid chain, we would make the very uncomfortable & costly decision to move into rented if necessary.uralmaid said:No we sold it within 3 weeks of putting it on the market the first time. When we had to re-market it after the timewasters, we sold it again within 3 days. It is set in 2.3 acres with a fishing lake. The only reason we want to move is to downsize on the land as it is getting too much for us now we are in our mid 60's.
After losing 1st purchase, it became necessary. That is also an option open to you, if you cannot tie up both transactions. However, not to be undertaken lightly, despite the frequency with which some posters bandy it about on here.0 -
Not an option for us unfortunately due to the amount of machinery and vehicles we have. If things do go pear shaped re our purchase we will have to decide whether to stick with our purchaser and look for another property or whether to stay where we are. We have been living surrounded by boxes since September as the previous purchaser - supposedly a cash buyer was pushing us to complete asap. This turned out to be all in his head as he never actually instructed his solicitor. Given the current situation with covid etc I am sorely tempted to stay safe where we are and unpack the boxes.0

Things just got worse for me. I had the broadband move pre-booked for a date in the future, which if we exchange this week would be perfect timing. I could have taken some days off work to move, and had working broadband for my first day back.
Turns out it gets automatically cancelled if the seller hasn't organised their move in advance and despite the fact that the switch isn't due to take place for over a week (2 days after our current completion target).
Even if I complete, I can't move in without broadband as I need to work from home. We know from the viewing that the mobile signal is almost non-existent so I can't rely on that. I've had to rebook and now can't move for weeks, even if I own the property.
Does anyone else have this issue? A lot of the country is now working from home due to COVID, surely people can't just take several weeks off when they move house...0 -
@CodeMatcha
Get a mobile broadband device with a decent receiver? Something like...

If you’ve spent the last 3 weeks being told everyone’s ready when they aren’t, possibly haha!RoyalPlum said:

Finally, we have exchanged.
5 months and 22 days since our offer was accepted and 2 chain breakdowns later - it’s been a journey! Fingers crossed for everyone else in a similar situation - there is light at the end of the tunnel!

We didn’t really have much of an update today, just that it shouldn’t be longer than a few weeks. Apparently going to get an update tomorrow but we’ll see!

I'm new to the forum and It's been nice reading everyones updates and comments on how they're getting on in their own processes. Being a FTB I was getting a bit worried why is my house buying journey taking so long (currently on month 5 with no exchange in sight), however its reassuring to see that we're all in the same boat in regards to timescales and that progress is being made slowly but surely!0
