The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

It’s so infuriating! Started the exchange process on Friday, got a call again this morning again for authority as it didn’t go through on Friday but heard nothing since 9:30! How long can it take to exchange contracts in a chain of 4?!0

My seller received his contract pack on Saturday so I assumed all enquires were satisfied but now my solicitor has sent me an email she sent today to the sellers solicitor asking for clarification on a couple more enquiries! How can he have received the contract pack if the solicitors hadn’t agreed all was satisfactory 🤦🏼♂️0

You can sign the contract at any point in the process, no matter what has or hasn't been done yet.
It's very common to sign it weeks before exchange even if there is plenty still outstanding.1 -

Burst into tears of relief. Been a rocky journey since end of July when house went on the market, with a few bumps along the way. We complete on Thursday and furniture etc comes out of storage on Saturday.
Oh, and I've managed to book our 1st COVID vaccinations - husband tomorrow, me on Friday. Going to a busy few days ahead.
Good luck to all who are waiting for that call.1 -

Good luck to all who are waiting for that call.Gives me hope. Our house went on the market end of July too and hopefully next month will be completion of both our sale and purchase. We have a back up temporary accommodation ready in case the tenants aren’t able to leave. Not looking forward to that prospect but our buyers have been waiting long enough so we’re prepared to break the chain.I have found, through painful experience, that the most important step a person can take is always the next one.

Congrats to the badger, I've read your story on here and pleased for you! Enjoy the new home!
I just realised my 'completion date' is 25 days away and still haven't got any clue if my mortgage has been approved by the seller solicitor. If not, I'd have to product switch and extend my rental.
25 days suddenly seeming very short.
